Venting

I thought about your post as we hiked a block management yesterday. We hiked from 2: in the afternoon to sunset about 4 miles, and then back in the dark 29759 steps I am told.
Only house I saw was 5-6 miles out.
Very different world.

I would absolutely love to be where that is an option. My wife can see it all over my face each fall. Deal was struck that once the kids graduate we are moving. We don’t know where yet because her and my version of retirement look very different.

Taking with kids with after graduation? Not being nosey just curious how you're working that. Kids will be graduating about 3 to 6 years before im eligible for retirement. Or at least retirement from what I do now.

I’m already semi retired with a decent monthly income from the military. I have 6 years left of their schooling and we are focusing on paying off debt now. Only have the house and camper to go, which we will have done in that timeframe.

Depending on where we are at financially if the wife can pull the plug or not. She is employable anywhere. Her company has employees world wide. She is already remote 4 days a week.

I have a feeling if she puts in her notice they will make an offer to allow her to move. If not, I am thinking we will be ok to sell and move. We won’t have any significant bills.

We are actively looking at areas in the west to claim a new residency at. I have a feeling we will be mobile for a few years before there is a committed retirement home purchase.

More so wondering If the kids are willing to leave home at that age.?

Tell M congrats from us, and nice shooting!

Stories like this are all too common down here. Makes me feel extra spoiled and blessed to still be able to hunt a few hundred yards from where I shot my first buck 32 years ago. Gramps is long gone, but he smiled on his namesake yesterday and my kid dropped a doe outside the swamp where he loved to hunt. My cousin got a nice 8 where Gramps used to sit to cap off what Michigan deer hunting should be.

A trail cam set on video aimed at that gut pile would capture an epic fit when the jackazz neighbor finds it !

I sure can relate @Addicting. The amount of hunters in places you never used to see them is crazy. I think the area is hunt is similar to your area lots of smaller tracts 80 acres and under quite a few even less. I've admittedly never hunted public around here but I think I may start. Public might be less crowded than some of the private these days. Everybody likes to sit right on the property edge now (pet peave). At least with public its fair game for all. When its smaller private tracts everyone seems to have a sense of entitlement which leads to a lot of drama. Waterfowl hunting is possibly worse than deer hunting. I used the easement on my grandparents farm (this particular piece is landlocked) a few years ago and the property that the easement runs through is leased, had the owner of the club tell me I was in the wrong and had no business there. Farm has been in my grandma's family since the 1920's and the road is named after my great grandpa. What a f&#k stick. People have really ruined it for me around home the last few years. I wish you luck with whatever happens, its frustrating. You're oure definitely not alone.

Today's the opener. These are on private, nobody else has permission. People sure are helping me lose interest quickly these days. Can't wait.
