Cats Aren't Trophies

Good luck getting in front of this one. I'm afraid its too late.

I would suggest some billboards around Denver with eviscerated dogs and a mountain lion in the background. With a quote "Your kid may be next." Good luck though, the bear hugging mountain lion shots never set well with non-hunters and apparently neither does chasing a scared defenseless pregnant mother with cubs.

They have Jane Goodall and Carol Basins on their side.

Dave Ruane's remarks and another "lifelong hunter" can be found about half way down:

Still looking for the study they mention, but apparently its not public yet.

I conducted a study of CO residents and all of them, 100%, were in favor of mountain lion trophy hunting. Results will be published soon.

Is there a way for groups to revoke memberships? I guess Dave Ruane could just say he was a past member?

Has California’s bighorn sheep population survived California’s ban on mountain lion hunting? Or are the past hunters, now paid game management specialists?

I think you all are overblown on this. They are wonderful creatures and deserve better.

They only kill 1 elk or deer per week on average. That's only 52 a year. They claim there are 3000- 7000 in Colorado ( because thy have no freaking clue) If we go with 3000 thats only 156,000 deer or elk. If its 7,000 its only 392,000.

Whats the problem?

Wow. And so the slow demise of hunting in Colorado begins. I love how they distort the term “trophy hunting” with a completely false assertion that lion hunters just discard the carcass after harvest. Wouldn’t that be illegal? This ballot initiative will probably pass with the accelerated urbanization of Colorado. This strategy of labeling the legal, ethical take of certain game animals could essentially be used to ban other species also, ie bears, deer, elk, etc. Any BHA folks know Dave Ruane? Maybe he is just jockeying for the next opening on the CPW commission to represent sportspersons. I love all the highly acclaimed, lifelong avid hunters they march out in favor of their cause. Do predators really self-regulate their populations? Maybe, after they have decimated all the prey populations. I thought we were looking for balance.
