Bye bye Bitterroot

Don't get me wrong guys I'm excited about the move and Billings is just fine by me. It's closer to my family and a lot of the places I hunt and fish. We've been working hard for it to work out for us to stay in the state and when this job opened up I was all for her going for it. Just was getting a little nostalgic thinking about the fun I've had here it is a great place to be. I've lived and worked in dang near every corner of the state and there's not too many places I wouldn't consider settling down in permanently. Like was said there's always something to do.

That same plan to stay in the state is what brought us to the root anyhow. We were in Bozeman and she graduated and was looking for jobs in places as far away as Maine. We saw a sweet position for her in the root that bought us a little more time, now she's in a permanent position. Like I said this was our plan all along.

Congrats. Hopefully you can still find a way to get some steelhead fishing in.

That is one of the biggest trade offs there. It will be farther but I'll make it over. On the other hand super close to my catfish, walleye, and northern holes...

I can relate to the wife driving the relocation decision. Back in 1989, upon return to Reno after ten days of camping and fishing around here, Mrs. Fin announced she was moving to Bozeman and asked, "You coming with?"

Hope you enjoy it. Lots of fun stuff to do over there.

:D
you got to be tough to live in glasgow,
:D

Moving can sometimes be really tough, sometimes really easy. Everywhere is what you make of it, and nothing is forever.

Other than being dreadfully hot in the summer, I've always liked Billings. Very close to the Absoraka Wilderness and Beartooth Plateau.

Get it while you can I say. Headed out on the root for some floating and had a decent day fishing and couldn't complain about the scenery! Doubt I'll make it back over here to float much after the move as I will be driving past a half dozen of my favorite rivers just to get here from Billings. Trying to decide if I we should go again today. The boat is already loaded and the gear is still in the truck...

Nice! It was beautiful here yesterday. And I wasted it building myself a new shed. mtmuley

It's supposed to be as nice today. Trying to talk my wife into a half day float, she may be coming around...

Don't waste it. What's your usual put in/out? I may head to the rifle range to wring out my redone 721. mtmuley

I was just out at the range in Hamilton, I'll miss that place too. Very convenient.

Yesterday we floated from Stephensville to Florence. The fishing was decent (tons of whitefish) but I usually do better from Hamilton down to Victor area. I've floated much of the river from Hamilton to Florence and you can't go wrong.

I haven't done it in awhile, but a buddy of mine does pretty well on the upper end/Darby North to Hamilton. Whichever stretch you hit, have a good day. mtmuley

I'm envious. No rifle shooting at the range on Easter. So I worked on my shed and ended up in the ER. 27 years of using a Skilsaw, but one moment of carelessness will do it. Wish I woulda been fishing. mtmuley
