For the folks that need it there will be some that don't and manage to get it. Program oversight is the solution to that. But throwing those that need it to the wolves because boot strap bill says "#*^@#* em, work harder" is basically despicable.

Maybe we should write legislation against that? Make those who own second and third homes sell them, at a reasonable rate? Perhaps to the renter. That'd be some real redistribution that'd get at some real and tangible wealth redistribution.

Something tells me the rich liberals owning multiple homes won't like that kind of market intervention.

Im very anti tax but given the current market I do think they should tax the holly hell out of people to the point they don’t wanna bother with it.

I think part of Trumps success is how successfull he is at throwing so much very bad stuff out there that people cant believe it all.

On the news last night was video of an old man hauled out of house in his boxer shorts. They broke in with no warrant. Young Grandson was sleeping near him, his daughter's pleas and statement that he was US citizen did not dissuade them. They didnt even let him get dressed...and it was below zero as they shoved him into their car. They questioned him for four hours before bringing him back home. With no explanation or apology.

The official response? They were looking for a sex offender. Local officials said that much younger person had once lived there, but years ago, and there was no link to the terrorized family who moved into the house more recently.

Also in the news this morning...ICE hauled a high school girl out of her car in a public area with many witnesses. She was here as a legal refugee. Worked at wal mart. Does not have a great command of our language yet, was very distressed and crying. so a local business owner on the scene who knew her approached the agents and said he was no threat but would like to help show she was her legally and help translate for them . For being willing to help... he got pepper sprayed.

And Trump is talking about sending the military here? No, this is not going to end well.

the lack of functional programs and medical care in this society for those that actually need it and the general resistance to their creation is all that needs to be "said"

folks falling on hard times shouldn't be the reason they become generationally damaged financially. a dad loses their job and benefits and then gets cancer, or hit by a bus? these things actually happen. single stay at home mom of three with medical bills needs more than food stamps to figure things out and not everyone "has a village"

i think we can do better as a society for sure. but the resistance remains.

52k for a starting out unskilled labor position is roughly equal to $16800.00 dollars in 1983 when I hit the labor force which is right at $8 an hour. A starting wage never brought a twice the national average house two cars and a fishing vacation to Alaska.

Right and in 1983 the median home price in the U.S. was 75k.

In 2025 the median home price was 400k+.

Average price of a new vehicle in 1983, $9,700.

Average price of a new vehicle in 2025, $49,500.

Do some math and tell me your wages kept pace and that the playing field is level.

My wife’s grandfather worked as a waiter at a dinner his adult life. He peaked young and never went further. He raised a family (8 kids I think) on one income that lived very poor.

Wouldn't surprise me at all. I think I am fairly middle of the road. Like some things on the Rep platform but not all. Like very little if anything on the Dem platform short of their public land stance.

I am not resistant to change in how healthcare is covered in this country. I just not a proponent of the proposed solutions. I was not a fan of the Affordable Care Act as it did not address the health insurance industries outsized impact on healthcare costs. If anything it increased it. Also don't think it had the desired impact on costs as is seen with the outcry for extending the subsidies. I think single payer idea has merit but would require a complete teardown of the existing healthcare system in order to result in anything other than an outsized burden on the taxpayer. Just saying have the Fed cover the costs and we will figure out how to increase taxes on somebody to pay for it, sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. I don't have a solution to the healthcare issue. But I am willing to listen. If and when I hear an idea that I think has merit, I will support it.

You just revealed your ignorance concerning how difficult it is to unionize a workforce. Companies are very vigilant in keeping unions out.

I don't know of a "union" that exists to protect vulnerable workers from exploitation. Only makes well paid trades/roles pay better than they would have.

I 100% agree with all this but last week I also watched a video of a lady loosing her mind because she lost her 6800 dollar a month assistance. That’s more than a lot of people make I wonder why she won’t get a job? It’s not my fault she had 6 kids but I sure get to pay taxes on that. Personally I think you should have to have some sort of a job and a clean drug test to receive a penny of tac dollars.whatever money she does make from her job should be taken from benefits that was received maybe if she had to go to work still she would apply herself more to better the situation or at least not be adding to the issues

If you think entry level pay buys you the same lifestyle and opportunities it does now, than it did in 1983, in an apples to apples comparison, you're denying reality.

That's the point. I didn't make the claim that a $25 hour job was comparable to a $8 dollar job in 1983, you did. It's simply not true.

In 1983, you could damn near buy 2 brand new vehicles with our entry level position pay in one year, today, barely 1.

The math isn't hard and the facts are what they are.
