Anybody Buying Yet? Where’s the Bottom?

Most of the S&P 500 companies may be US companies but have significant parts of their business international.
Unhedged ETFs like VXUS and VEA can have an advantage (and disadvantage) of currency swings. There's seems to be some decent consensus that the USD will likely devalue over the next 5 years strengthening these investments.

It’s a shame they say so much cray-cray sh…tuff, because it buries some legitimately good parts of MAHA.

We are a very unhealthy country, and changing that would improve many people’s lives. But it won’t cure/prevent measles.
MAHA isn’t about telling people they should eat better and exercise. Michelle Obama did that, and no one listened. MAGA is about finding someone to pin the blame on for Americans being unhealthy. The crazy is the core of the plan. A feature, not a bug.

Michelle was just another obnoxious mom telling kids to eat their vegetables.

It was stupid.

MAHA really does have a lot of good stuff they're going after if you ask me. I was excited about much of their so-called "plank." Really unfortunate that they got their position of power in Trump's presidency amidst and alongside so much other nonsensical and conspiratorial bullshit that gets top-down pushed.

MAHA and Let's Move! really don't have the same food philosophies...
They aren't exactly apples and oranges, they're pretty friggin close. Focused on eating more whole foods, improving school nutrition, better clarity on labelling.

How they are exactly the same, and you can throw in the food pyramid dating back to 1992, is that these guidelines won't be followed.

You a finding distinction without a difference. I’m not sure where this falls in the MAHA health plan.

You could have listed the good stuff...it really would not have made the read much longer.

I did like Robert Kennedy encouraging people eat liver, to keep their food costs down. My mother tried to no avail, in getting me to eat liver.

For years I agreed with that, but as noted earlier the pros increasingly dont.

What I have heard from multiple folks at Fidelity and Vanguard is that the issue is room to grow...international equities simply have more of it than US.

I had kind of a hybrid approach for our retirement funds, but the entry limit rules for the managed bond portion have not kept up with my conservative withdrawal needs. Last year they were ok, but thanks to our wispy haired leader they have sunk hard. Room to increase equities wasnt there so I agreed to turn it all over to fidelity for a bit higher fee and a bit lower bond % in the mix.

I will see once everything settles but the target was 30-40 % foreign in the equity portion. And they said that was lower than it had been in recent years.
I’m no expert by any means. No doubt they might have the room to grow, I’ve just wondered whether they have the requisite systems in place to truly prosper.

I don't think anyone has gone after ultra processed foods and sugar like the MAHA guys have. I support a heavy handed approach to regulation here. I think the science really shows that our food supply holds a lot of blame for the explosion of chronic disease and putting the focus there rather than on just getting people to eat differently is the best approach.

I strongly support food benefits not being used on trash food with no nutrients.

They've gone after artificial dyes and chemical additives in a pretty aggressive manner.

I strongly, strongly support a shift back towards higher protein diets, full fat dairy, and lots of fruits and vegetables and get added sugar the hell out of our food supply. Michelle argued for more grains and veggies and kinda implied less meat.

I think it's becoming quite clear that the broad public health advice, specifically around food, of the federal government has been ultra bullshitty for a long long time. I personally think MAHA is going in a better direction on the nutrition front.

Going after processed food was literally part of Michelle Obama's health campaign. Was she not heavy handed enough?

I'm fine not allowing junk food purchases with food stamps.

A limiting factor on getting more protein into the diet, is that it is generally more expensive.

no, she literally partnered with the companies themselves to come up with solutions.

"oh hey mister giant snack company specializing in processed foods full of sugar raking in billions, you wanna come up with plan to hurt your profits and improve consumer health?"

lol

Nope.

Not saying it was perfect.
