Everybody has one. Lets see a pic and short caption of your favorite trophy, sometimes its due to size, circumstances, or people involved. What makes it your favorite trophy? I personally have two:

I hunted bears for four years religiously, spot n stalk in Montana. My senior year of high school, I finally got this bear. An honest to god 7' chocolate bear. I have taken four bears since (one each year) but I'm quickly realizing this one will be hard to beat.

The second is the first bull elk I took with a bow. On a whim, I drove many hours to a new area and connected with this bull. Although I have taken bigger ones in the last few years, hunting and packing this bull out solo gave me a huge sense of gratitude.

So lets see em!!! What is your favorite trophy??

After missing out on my son's 12th birthday and being able to take him hunting that year due to a military deployment, I got home in time to take him out the next year. He drew a bull tag, and everything could not have gone any better. Still tear up when I think about that day.

I'm not sure why its got to be this pic, but taking a 180" mule deer when your 16 kinda ruins ya for a while on mule deer. But I'm glad I ended up lucking out getting a chance with this deer.

Or I would have to say that this spring turkey hunt would aslo top some of my hunts as it was one of the few hunts my old man was able to make as I took this turkey at four paces, I'm pretty sure he was amazed that you can get that close to a turkey with very little cover.

here's a great trophy pic from just a couple weeks ago. What it looks like when sportsmen/women get together to make sure we can keep taking trophy pics. HB 309 hearing, Helena MT. 400 outdoorspeople showing up for the cause.....

So far for me it has to be this one. Nothing big or great, but my son shot it at 5 years old. Never seen him so excited, which of course got me pretty excited.

Okay, I'll bite on this one.I don't have much for "trophies",mostly average to above average. This antelope though I really like.I found him on block management and was lucky enough to kill him the second year.He missed the all-time Boone and Crockett due to a 7/8 deduction in prong length. What makes him really special to me is that his horns measure 17 and 17 1/8.Looking at the record books for Montana there aren't too many bucks registered with this horn length, though obviously there are many higher scoring animals. He is a pretty mount and I feel fortunate to have him on the wall.

Buck from last year. First animal shot w/ my father. He had the classic story of not hunting once he could afford to buy beef. He felt like hunting was for poor folks, and by god, he could afford to feed the family w/o having to have his hands in a gut pile.

After I started hunting, he decided that it could be fun, so he was able to come over for some whitetail hunting this year, after a long battle with several cancers, loss of a foot, and generally crustiness. We were sitting in a little depression on the outside of a riparian area. His guy bolted out behind us at top speed, hugging the fence line. Dropped him at about 100 yards w/ one shot.

Dadjust had a tumor removed from his right frontal lobe, and they found a couple of small ones in his lungs, but the Dr's are confident that they can get it all w/o much hassle. We're already talking about this year's hunt.

I have a couple Like you but they are favorites for different reasons.

The Spring of 2008, My 12 year old daughter got her first turkey ( first animal) on a hunt where the tom hung up and we had to sneak on him across an open hillside. I wrote the story and it was featured in a regional hunting magazine called Relentless 365.

Then this fall (2010) I drew the best tag of my hunting career. A California Tule Elk Tag. I now know the weight of a good tag, and I was so glad when I arrowed this bull. It really was like a weight had been lifted from my shoulders...

Never thought a 240 inch bull would be my proudest accomplishment...

My first nice deer plus I shot him with my bow...The Old man and my brother were there to help track him down..I know he is not big to many (grossed 103) but from Florida on public land I couldn't be happier...well if he would have had 1/2" more he would have made the Florida Buck Registry but hey

I shot the buck on the right on national forest back in Virginia with my dad in another ground blind about 50 yards away. First deer of my hunting career.

While he's not that big, this was probably the toughest and best stalk I've ever put on an animal.

All of them are my favorites hard to narrow it down to just one, so I will just put up my best Deer and Elk. Both public land both on my own (with some buddies:D)

I was lucky myself to take a whitetail buck and bull elk with my muzzleloader, BUT- these are considered my trophies for the year. I was able to take my 10 yr old out for his 1st deer and my 14 yr old nephew out for his second. Lots of good memories from last fall.

I know that this is a small buck, but it is my sons first at 10 years old. He has been on a roll since and has taken a lot more and a lot bigger bucks since, but I was more excited on this hunt than all of mine and the rest of his combined.
HuntersPics006.jpg

Same with my daughters first, which was a few years after her brothers. But she was 15 years old with her first buck. Both of these bucks were taken on public youth hunts, which is perfectly legal to shoot any deer, no size restrictions.
