Your Favorite Rifle

My Model 70 EWSS in 270WSM with a VX-5HD 3-15x. She’ll shoot better than I can, and plenty gun for most things in North America.

I like rifles that are in the era of muscle cars or pre muscle cars. Like the Winchester 88, the pre 64 in 270, or just any old Remington 700BDL or 721/722 . When it comes to rifles no need to be faithful to one caliber or brand you can have a few. The top them with the classic redfield from back in the day.

I have a whole safe, or two, full of favorites. I will happily grab any one of them to go punch a deer, or a target. My 6.5 calibers are the standouts, for me, though. I have another re-barreled Mod 700 (Creed) en route just in time for this deer year. I just traded for a Model 70, Winchester, .270 that could very well have been a total favorite at some point. It will get bloodied this fall, for sure-unless I find someone that needs it more than I do!

I have to say a Winchester Model 70 Classic Sporter I had customized and made into a 280 AI with a Shilen Match barrel. I used it to harvest a beautiful grizzly bear in August above the Arctic Circle. One shot with a 140 gr. Accubond!!

My favorite has changed over the years. Currently its gotta be my .308 Tikka T3X with an after market grip and a VX II 3x9. Its nothing particularly special, just like shooting it and hunting with it.

Ruger M77 in 300 WM. I found it 20 years ago on the used gun rack in Gander Mountain for $320. Had the trigger worked over and breaks clean at 2.5lbs. Dropped it in a McMillan stock and mounted a Swaro Z3. Shoots very well and I've taken a lot of game with it

In 1992 I bought a Ruger M-77 in 7mm Rem Mag with a black synthetic stock (not Ruger). It was my primary big game rifle until recently when I got an Ultra Light Arms in 300 Win Mag.

The background and foreground of the pic with 2 shells makes me think I should be seeing something on the ground somewhere? Nice firearms!

i think hes just showing the background to one of the nicest hunting spots on earth

Not quite my favorite anymore but it holds a special place in my heart. 6.5-284 Norma. Built on a savage action with a 28 inch shilen barrel. The thing drives tacs and was the first gun I was part of building.

The shame, the shame. I was on Lana'i and found 2 axis bucks fighting at just a little over 300 yards. I should have made that shot but I missed. They broke off from fighting but just stood there puzzled. I shot again and missed again. I can't explain it.

Favorite rifle? How would I know, I like them all. I suppose it might be my old Rem 660 in 308 that somehow ended up at my sons! I really like older Rem 700's with blue metal and wood stocks. Got one in 243, one in 25-06 and a 700 BDL in 6.5x06. Like them all! My mod 70 Ftr Wt in 6.5x55 is really nice and I would not get rid of it. Come to think of it, I have two Mosberg Patriot's, blackened w/wood stocks I like really well also. This is kind of choosing your favorite kid, how do you do that?

Like Don, my "favorites" kept changing

my first, a Stevens combo was pretty special tio me
when I graduated to the Savage 250, it was the best
I have used the 300 H & H the most, an original Win from the 50's and then a custom one built on a pre 64 Model 70 action, but the 6.5 x 55 is a very close second in overall usage and preference
It will surprise some possibly but when moving up, caliber wise, I had a 9.3 x 64 Brennake made in Germany on a Mauser action that was a pretty sweet rifle to use. It just worked for me, it was custom so it fit, the action was so smooth, loved it

My favorite shotgun, wait you didn't ask, never mind
