Just curious how the economy is affecting these expensive elk apps in WY. Don't get me wrong, even at the high price, the opportunity to hunt elk in WY is worth it in my budget.

Wonder how many of you are actually applying for elk, or just for preference points. And if so, regular or special.

I have talked to some friends who are just doing points this year, in hopes that things will get better and they will have more cash when they do burn those points.

Since I drew last year and burned all my points, I am going the special tag route this year, but that amount of cash is a crunch.

Will have to ask the wife to loan me some money from her slush fund that still holds the proceeds of all my stuff she sold while I was gone this fall. Oh well, she won't know until the Cabela's Visa shows up sometime next month. ;)

Going for broke.

Putting in special.

Not telling the wife.

Probably getting divorced.

BigFin,
There are a lot of people just buying a point this year. It will be interesting to see the 2009 draw odds this year. There are A LOT of people sitting out the "game" this spring. This might be the year some people finally get their tags cou<oak>gh.

For Elk I'm just going to buy a point and plan a 2010 hunt.

With the mild winter (so far) I'm thinking I might just have to throw my name in the draw for deer though. Its a long shot with no points but someone has to draw.

I have a few more weeks to decide to cash in 13 nonresident moose points. Anyone have any suggestions? :D

Brilliant! How many non-res sheep points?

And people questioned why I really moved to AK.....;) ;)

I increased my odds of drawing moose/sheep 10x LOL.

BTW I think i only have 11 sheep points. Missed a couple years. Not really concerned about cashing them in....yet :D

What I'm really hoping for is a points system to start for residents regarding deer elk and antelope. Then I'll already have a few non resident ones. Move back to WY and BAM!!! get my elk and deer areas.

Then I'll retire from moving all over and settle down in the great state of CO. And live a happy life picking up mule deer sheds. Maybe shoot a coyote or two. For now, just dreams :D

What is wrong with you? The lack of daylight up there has made mush of your brains.

If it wasn't for my wife.......................I would be in Wyoming tomorrow. I had vowed to only date strippers after the last girlfriend:confused:

I was thinking just points, as I have no time to bow hunt, but then got to thinking Carter Mtn would fill in the later season just fine. So economy be dammed!!!!!!!!!

I'd like to put in but the others in my group say just a point this year. Either way, the odds on the unit we are goin after are near 0.

You may be on to something there... The only belt I've owned in my life broke the other day. Not only is my head now mush, so is my stomach hahahahahhahaha.

I'll trade you wyoming shed spots for CO shed spots. Deal? :D

damn!!! You Jackson Holer's are smarter than I thought.

Have any AK shed spots you want to share ;)? Give you half of what i find ;).....seriously....hahahhaahahha

I'm in for regular. Didn't draw last year so I should draw with one point in the regular draw. Will also do deer and antelope and just a point for sheep. Drew moose last year so the wait begins for that.

I'm sitting out the moose and sheep draws this year. Putting in special for deer, though. Heck, I'm going for the trifecta and cashing in my antelope points as well! I might spend more time in WY than CO this fall.

I'm putting in, but not for the special. If'n I was to do that I'd have to ask Oak for his lawyers name...

I haven't decided on pronghorn, but everything else will just be points.

Yes I will be applying, not sure where yet, will get that part figured out next week.

I am putting in for special deer. Points only for moose, elk and antelope, as I am cautiously optimistic the AZ draw gods will be good to me this year for archery elk!!

Im applying for 51-1 yet again. The costly part will be hiting a guide or paying for a new "resident friend" to go shoot a big bull with me if i luck out and draw the tag.
