I did a lot of dirtbikes when I was in my 20's, never thought about street. In my 30's I thought about a bike and the responsibilities. Decided I was still not "adult" enough. After I moved to CO a few if my new friends rode, I borrowed a buddies old gpz 550 and I was hooked. Bought my 1st bike @41, it's been 2 years now.
I have 4 kids all at home and don't plan on getting rid of the bike anytime soon. In fact I'm looking for a second bike, maybe a Ducati monster or a R1.

I sold my last Harley to pay for a lawyer with my ex..she still ended up with my son and allowed to move out of state. So, not only am I without my son, but I'm without a bike too. I'm in the market for a new Harley, though. Hopefully in the spring after I'm all moved into my new house and settled.

I hear ya Cushman on the moving out of state with your kid thing, my wife moved to Tennessee after our divorce with my daughter. It almost killed me, so, instead of spending money on therapy. . .I ordered a new harley. . . .money well spent! ( they moved back a few years ago too)
Ill try to get a pic on here. Its a 2001 FXDWG ( Wide Glide) for my big ass!

I've owned a lot of bikes but don't have one right now.
First was a 1978 Honda Hawk 400 that was my sole transportation my first year of College in 1986. I put a lot of bumps and bruises on that bike and myself during that year.
Second was a 1982 Suzuki GSL 650 with a full fairing that I bought before I went home for the summer. Rode it home to Glasgow from Lubbock (1,200ish miles) in 2 days back in the days of 55 mph speed limits.
Third was a 1984 Honda Interceptor 1000 that I bought the end of my sophmore year. Awesome bike. Totaled it that summer going through a yellow light at about 100mph in a 35mph zone. There was a dip in the intersection and the road curved, but I was airborne and couldn't make the turn. God was watching over me because all I ended up with was a lot of road rash because I wasn't wearing a jacket. First thing anyone said to me as I was picking myself and the bike off the pavement was a guy who pulled up and I can still hear his words today. "WOW, you FLEW!" They did a measurement job on the accident scene and I ended up flying right at 100 yards from the dip in the intersection and dumped it as soon as I hit. The bike went another 100 yards before coming to rest in the oppoosite lane (after going over a median with a 12"+ curb). I went with the curve when I ditched thankfully, because if I had hit that curb I would have been totaled too.
Fourth bike was a 1986? Kawasaki Vulcan 700. I was done with the crotch rockets and went to something slow and easy. Not a bad bike, but I missed the instant on speed. Kept it a year then couldn't resist again.
Fifth bike was another 1984 Honda Interceptor 1000. That was my senior year of college. The chain broke and wrapped up on the inside of the socket and cracked the aluminum block. Tried to get it magna welded or something like that and it worked, but it wasn't ever the same bike. Leaked oil and eventually blew the engine on it.
Bought my first 4 wheeled vehicle in the fall of 1990 after I graduated college that summer and got a real job. Got a brand new Chevy s10 single cab pickup. That was before I blew the engine on the Interceptor but it wasn't very long before. Ended up with no bike for a while.
Sixth bike was a 1988 Honda Magna 700. One of the ones with a solid rear wheel. Pretty nice bike. Didn't ride it a whole lot since I actually owned another vehicle, but kept it for several years. Finally sold it in 1994 or so after getting married and having it sit in a shed in the back yard not getting much use for a couple years.
Had a long drought with no bike.
Seventh bike was a 1988 Yamaha FZR 1000 that I bought in 2006ish. Nice bike, but it had been modified some and I never really fell in love with it. Rode it some but I decided I probably shouldn't be riding a crotch rocket anymore and sold it.
Eighth bike was a 2008? Yamaha DS650L Thumper. I had never ridden a dirt bike before and thought that it would be safer than a street bike. I rode it to work and back some, but not nearly as much as I would have thought, and ended up selling it just a couple years later.
No bike right now.
