We shot a couple elk this morning and took them to a friend’s barn to hang them. He uses rotten ropes and come-alongs to hang the elk. I told him several years ago to just buy one of the hoists from Cabelas and put a beam in the rafters and just pull them up with the hoist.

But no, we are climbing on shaky ladders and driving a tractor with a hydraulic leak and trying to raise the elk high enough to get them off the floor, then hang them on the rotten ropes. Man, what mess that doesn’t have to be…

Congrats on the elk! I think your friend is on to something … skinning the elk might get done quicker when one has a little trepidation about the bucket dropping, or the ropes breaking. 😉

Harbor freight has a ceiling mount winch with cable so no rotten rope.

Would save some .... fussing
