If you would have applied as a party with him neither of you would have drawn.Wow. I thought some people were being over dramatic about the point creep thing for this year but I guess they were right. I had 11 deer points and my son had 12. Unit we wanted showed historically anything over 9 was a lock. Checked Go Hunt "predictive odds" and even that said anything over 10 would be a lock. So like a dum ass I didn't even bother applying as a party. He got it and I didn't. Now I'm gonna have to turn his tag in and try again next year.
Like others have stated why not take your son on a great adventure and use the time to learn the area and find him a nice buck. Next year you can go back and hunt it all over again with him by your side. Sometimes having just one tag makes it a less stressful hunt and easier to play guide!
