Too Much Gun

I never thought I would see anyone with too much gun for Elk... With my definition of too much gun being one that kills an Elk too dead.... I finally found it.

I was guiding some friends from New York on an Elk hunt in Arizona over the weekend... We found a bull on the first morning and Dick shot him... It killed him too dead... as shown in this picture....

That's a .50 Caliber Earsgeschplittin Loudenboomer. Not generally considered sporting for anything smaller than a single seat fighter...........

Oak, That picture was taken on the White Mountain Apache Reservation. It's not legal to pick up anything except the animal you shoot. This was a cow hunt.

That gun would have worked perfect for my last few rifle hunts. I could pack all the meat out in one trip, just using a few ziploc baggies and my pockets. And not destroy any of the horns.
