Someone in our family would always secret away a piece so he/she could have the honor of placing the last piece. With four siblings, there would occasionally be more than one piece “missing.”

The fact it was missing gave me a little validation. I couldn’t tell you how many times I muttered “WTF is that piece?”

This is another reason we hate ground squirrels. They tunnel into dams right about static water level. When the water raises to outlet level the squirrel holes blow holes in the dam.

Sunny weekend at Ridge Rock Cabin, snowshoed up around the corners up the draw ... so peaceful and quiet you hear the snow.


The full moon illuminated the snowshoe trail.


The trail above was pristinely snowbound, a trail less travelled.
