Stream access Rally?

Turnout was great . Da Butte guys tshirts were a hoot. UPOM...continue to be on the lookout for that bunch. This was a great message to send to legislature. Today we have a governor that willl hopefully veto tripe like this bill and others. Our next governor may well be of the same mindset as the wonderful folks we are now doing battle with. It's good to serve notice now for future reference. A retired coworker and good fishing buddy of mine went with me today. He was a professional witness at the late seventies court case, which set the stage for the later 1985 stream access law we have currently enjoy. He was a witness for the plaintiffs - Stream Access Coalition, few of those players showed up today too. It sucks that we are still fighting the same old battles again and again. On the upshot...it's good there are still those willing to. As witnessed by the hundreds who were there today. I'm tellin ya, we are a force to be reckoned with if we show up. Make no mistake, this is and will continue to be a fight. If I am forced into a battle, guaranteed I won't drop my fists and lean into a punch...........Nice meeting you guys, Ben & shoots straight. Ever want to float the rivers around Bozeman, gimme a shout....I know a little bit about the fishing.

Good for all of you who were able to make an appearance and thank you for taking a stand.

Just this past weekend we had to face the fact that the area we have our shack in eastern Oregon will be in the middle of the next Oregon gold rush. Fisheries will go to HELL along with mudslides if the county and city keep their hands over there eyes for the almighty $$. The area is just recovering from the last gold rush of late 18 early 1900's. Now they are going to dig it all over again. Everybody seems to be looking for the money in small town America and to a point I don't blame them, but where does it stop?
Sorry for the rant, but so sad state of affairs when the west coast Oregon huggers (gub nuts) do not care about their eastern neighbors other than the money they bring into the coffers and doesn't mess up their pristine area of the state.

The crappy economy will continue to present a thorn in the side of hunting and fishing stuff. Hard to get someone concerned about- face it, to most- recreation when gas is $4/gallon and income potential is fading or worse. Bottom line is, it comes down to priorities. Personally, unless I'm living under a bridge, I'm still gonna wet a line in some creek. Actually if I'm living under a bridge, I'll probably subsist illegally on fish and fowl....

Just rolled in. Snowy over here on the western front. It was great finally meeting some of you guys, even if it was just for a second. It's been 6 years sense I joined this site, and had hardly meet a sole from here. Hope it doesn't take another 6.

It was great to see a plan come together. If we keep close, (all of our sportsman's groups) and come to each others aid, when needed, I see that force that onpoint mentioned, growing.

The other night, I spent 1 1/2 hrs talking with a local representative, about his vote on HB 309. I told him that I could feel a little rumble underneath sportsman all across this state. I said it was possible for this rumble to turn in to a chit storm, for any politician, that continued to vote against us. That rumble just got a whole lot louder today.

I thank all that came to Helena, and all of you that have written letters. For those of you, who are still apathetic, take that first step, even if its just a e-mail or a phone call. You can have a big impact. Today was proof. Way to go!

You fellas are welcome in my hunt camp any time!

BTW, anyone need a good builder? Y

Thank you all – the 300 plus who attended the hearing for HB 309 yesterday and all those that sent messages to Committee members.

But – we encourage your engagement with the bill to not stop here.

The proponents and the sponsor suggested to the Committee in the follow-up Q&A session -- that as many as four amendments could save the bill and might make it acceptable.

Work on these amendments will occur quickly….and in short order proponents will again be asking Committee members to advance the bill for a full Senate floor debate/deliberation.

PLEASE – Send stay on top of Committee members…this bill needs to die in Committee.

Send messages today…there are too many points in the bill that need fixing or need to be simply discarded…amendments are not acceptable and too significant ….the bill needs to be killed or tabled.

Ask them to use their best judgment…there are too many problems in this bill !

PLEASE COMMUNICATE WITH THEM TODAY – AND CONTINUE COMMUNICATIONS THIS WEEK!

No amendments, no compromises, no nothing when it comes to HB 309. Dead bill.
