There are enough Rs on that caucus to swing the vote, as long as democrats aren’t supporting the amendment. I hope they stick to their guns.

What is the dynamic in these other western Republican leaning states that doesn’t make retention of public lands a R voting issue? I have been in Montana my whole life so forgive me. Obviously Wyoming is generally more conservative and still seems to have the good old boy GOP but why aren’t the other western state republicans getting more pressure like Montanas do? Is it because these states have so many more public lands so these lands are seen as more expendable? We got Randy?

Also I’m surprised this issue isn’t getting more attention on Hunttalk. I think losing this acreage is a coin flip right now which scares the bejeezus out of me. Guess people are more worried about the military choppering in on raghorn sheds or what time of year they will get to tag their montana forky.

I am surprized there has been no 60 Minutes or Evening news A-hole who claims to be outdoorsey and has a house outside Bozeman or Aspen talk of this.

I think the same thing and can only hope folks are commenting but not posting about it.
Randy has stated many times his hunting videos get 1000x views but his conservation videos only get 10x views.
Far easier to like a meme than stand up for conservation. Make the calls folks.

I've voiced my stance with my local Congressman and he is nothing but a bootlicker to the current administration. His district has thousands of acres of federal USFS lands with thousands of users. But these voters can't see the forest for the trees. IMO
Both sides have done a good job of pissing people off and separating them on silly issues.
That’s no good. Where do you live out of curiosity.

I’ve been wondering on that too, but I think most people are sick of talking about it because there’s not much we can do at the moment besides to keep hounding our reps. I’ve been calling my congresswoman and senators about twice a week. I’m being polite but I also want to be annoying with how important this is. I’ve considered mentioning to them that selling public land is one of only a few issues that would cause me to riot in the streets, but I figure it’s best to stay off the crazy list for now.
Instead of rioting in the streets, how about as @rogerthat put it, vote for a different party. Radical idea I know with 2A and abortion etc.
For real not trying to turn it political just pointing out why folks vote against public lands.
Difficult times we live in. Two party system is good at keeping folks on their side of the aisle with the doom and gloom and all.

I heard Burgum say in an interview that most Westerners are on board with selling public lands, except Montanans, because “they’re different”. I hope that’s not true, but it was also kind of telling.
That’s scary and I would think is ultimately not true. Hard for folks to not believe the hyperbole though.
This uphill battle has become really steep.

its easy to distract oneself with meaningless topics, when the really important things are more difficult to start on and often feel like your voice isn't heard (while, living in Utah and not wanting public lands sold, at least). I mean, leaving a message for Mike Lee (which I do) about public lands is about as useless as tits on a bull

Montanans and their survey results are no different than other westerners. Sounds like a lot of smoke and mirrors to rationalize unpopular decisions.

The phrasing of the questions being asked likely lead to heavy response bias though, let’s be real. In many instances, the hypothetical benefit of keeping status quo was over emphasized while the hypothetical negatives of PLT/sale were clearly the point of emphasis.
I’m not sure the information presented in those surveys is legitimate data.
