I am going to be going to MT for the first week of the Elk season. We are going to be back packing in and we will probably be leaving my vehicle parked for 8 or 10 days in the same spot.

My question is are there any safety concerns with leaving my vehicle unattended for so long. Should I get a gas cap lock or do anything else? Thank you for any replies.

In my opinion you will be fine. Especially since you probably have North Dakota plates and not CALIFORNIA.

Locking cap isnt a bad idea though.

If you will be hunting anywhere near Butte then you do have reason to worry.

Don't think you would have a problem... though there are always the few that screw things up. I would suggest contacting the Forest Service LEO or captain for the district you are looking to hunt. I am sure they can give you a better feel for the area.
Good luck in your hunt!

II remember the front page of a Santa Fe Sunday newspaper headline reading "The Californication of New Mexico"....true story. Aren't you mountian state's fellows happy to see the whacko Cali hordes come to rescue your culture....LMAO.

I would also suggest a locking cap also, and don't leave anything worth more than a nickel in plain sight. Here's hoping my neighbors in Montana are more honest than some in my state. Of course, there are always a bad apple or two in a bushel.
