RIP Camofire

Let’s just say I know a guy who watches this type of stuff with retail companies on a broad spectrum. It’s not an industry trend, it was a company issue.
Bummer, almost 2 decades in business just to have it all go down in flames.

I read a couple guys saying they placed orders recently and never received them. Can’t get ahold of customer service.
Lots of people saying this, same with suppliers. The guy from Aziak Equipment has multiple videos posted on Instagram about it, CamoFire recently ordered from him and didn’t pay for it.

He grabbed the publicly available bankruptcy documents and did a deep dive.

CamoFire began paying their bankruptcy lawyer and beginning proceedings back in August, gave severance pay outs of $4k and $25k to two different employees last month, but somehow ordered stuff from suppliers and took orders up to the day before closing doors.

Sketchy AF.

Dang. Didnt catch this right away. Was hoping to buy some more merino from them. Liked the half dozen or so Black Ovis items I’ve bought. Bummer. What’s the next best place to find good value gear like Black Ovis?

I don’t know how big are the operations but the purchasing person might not know what management is doing. I would assume that management was acting like everything was normal while preparing to cease operations in the background.

Being a bankruptcy, everyone owed money can file a claim for repayment, unfortunately. Probably not worth the time and effort for most retail customers.

Three years of loses doesn’t bold well for REI.

We bought my wife hiking boots at REI on sale last month. Maybe they should charge full price. Store was busy.
