Well I tried to burn points in a few states but I guess Lady Luck wasn’t on my side. CPO invited me to Elk camp for OTC Elk. I chewed on it awhile and decided to stay home. This will be the first year that I can remember that I didn’t head West to hunt something! Pretty bummed about it, but I have been traveling nonstop since around April. I took my step son out last weekend on his first deer hunt here in Indiana. He used his mother’s crossbow. I won’t let him shoot past 40yds and we had a heck of a buck come in at 63 yds. He tried to convince me he could make the shot. I told him 40 is max. He didn’t argue and didn’t get upset. We watch some does feed out behind us but there was no shot opportunity. When shooting light was over I told him to be quiet because those does are probably still in the bean field. Sure enough they were and I told him to practice stalking on them. He didn’t argue good and got to 70 yds before they figured him out! That was more fun watching him than if I were doing it on my own! Sooo, hopefully more of taking him and Mrs. Redman out. Cush and Born are coming to the Redmon Home for Wayward Souls. CPO won’t make it this year. I have a coworker that really wants to hunt and has never been, so if it works out I might be taking him.
