Relax, Everything is Going to be Okay!

by waiting so long (post primaries in many states), Dems felt they legally had to put Harris on the ticket, or they had to return all donations and then ask for donations to the new candidate. The logistics of doing it any other way were immense. The core problem was waiting and caring about the law. Lesson learned?
Everyone is entitled to there opinion.
) the simple fact is old people vote at a higher percentage than young people and old white guys (and often gals) vote for old white guys. This is fact that everyone wants to pretend doesn’t exist, but the polling data shows it does.
Why wouldn't anyone want to admit that they vote for people more like them?

Oh, I think the current iteration of the Democratic Party are the worst political party in my lifetime. They are so disconnected from society, and honestly, reality, that it's shocking.
I think you are not considering how voters change. Voters have become more extreme and pushed to the edges of both parties. Americans are just upset at everything and want to take it out on someone.

If we want to see certain types of candidates, people are free to write to party leaders of either party and express to them what they would like to see. It doesn’t mean you will always get exactly what you want, but a letter sent in the down part of a political cycle is more likely to be read. The main problem is slow part of political cycles are getting shorter and shorter.

You asked why, I explained the conversations happening at the time.

Racism and sexism still exist, but call someone racist or sexist and most will get very defensive. Self awareness is in short supply.

I guess if I vote for a middle aged white guy I'm sexist and racist then, I should probably only vote with people who are different so I don't get labeled. Gmafb

Don't try to win me over with flattery.
People need to get out of their bubbles and ask if their ideas are disenfranchising anyone else, particularly not like them.

Should convicted felons lose their right to vote?
Voting is tied to residency, for obvious reasons. Some people move occasionally and some move often.
Should mail-in voting be allowed at all?
Can the homeless vote?
Are we trying to get more people to vote or less?
I have seen here in the past that people implied that the average American was so dumb they shouldn’t be allowed to vote. Should we make voter registration mandatory at High school graduation or GED passing or do we need to make people take a test?

When you try to make a system that works for everyone, it gets complicated fast. So people say “this works for me, so everyone should do it”.

But why do they change? There's definitely some feedback looping occuring, parties shift because of some voters, other voters are forced to shift because there are only two parties, and unless you want "the other guy" to win, you plug your nose and vote, which is a form of affirmation. Repeat.

I think we should also admit that the very nature of "progressivism" implies a constant shift to correct every wrong.

it’s a good question. I’m going to generalize, obviously, but the internet doesn’t help. It creates the bubble and makes it stronger. Overall, I think we have lost the sense of unity that comes from a shared struggle. There have been no world wars, or even cold wars. It has been 25 years since 9/11. I don’t expect Americans to agree on everything. Heck, there were plenty of people who were loyal to the Ling in 1776 and plenty people that didn’t want to get into WW I and II. But we emerged from these things with a sense of shared purpose, shared experience. We need something to bring that back to stop us from arguing. Maybe Minneapolis will be it.
