Phishing attempts…..show us what they have tried

This one was from the scammer that tried to smoke me on a rifle. It all started with a PM from a now banned member with 11 posts.

PayPal: Your $300.00 USD payment to Luis Hernandez was refunded. You'll receive it in the next 24hours. Due to PayPal network, sorry for the inconvenience you can resend if you want to process the payment.

Possibly the target of a scamming that originated here on hunt talk. I advertised wanting to buy a turkey call press and had a hunt talk member contact me and said he had a friend with a press for sale. He left me a email address and long story short I traded with the guy to buy it. I sent the money order and to the guys wife as requested, the money order was cashed and he says he never received the money order. I told him that his wife cashed the money order either with or without his knowledge and either send me my money back or the press. Needless to say he no longer responds to my emails and the hunt talk member has disappeared. I can not find the message that he sent me or any record of him on hunt talk.

Someone needs to chase the IP address on these scammers.

Wow, I thought i was the only one but I did send a money order. Looking back the guy never intended to send me the press, if he even has one. I had another member (at least a different name) contact me with a press but something just didn't sound right. Once burned twice shy.

I know what you mean. I got 2 scammers in the same week on the same rifle. The second guy was unbelievably knowledgeable on firearm sales. He asked and verified my FFL, answered all the questions,,,, I sent him the $$ through PayPal. PayPal didn't care but Visa is all over it and refunded my $$. They are still investigating. Visa has no tolerance.
