Idaho moose refund problems

So about a week ago I checked my online banking app and discovered my NR moose tag refund credit to my checking account. Shortly after I spend the money with an online purchase to buy supplies for my company which I received later in the week. Last Friday evening comes along and my online banking app reveals I'm in the negative over $2600 which is close to the tag cost.
After waiting all weekend for bank to open I call today. Bank says they have no evidence of deposit from IGF. I explained I saw the deposit withy own eyes now the recent transactions don't show the deposit ever happened. Bank said call IGF.
IGF emailed me a screenshot of what they said was proof my refund was deposited bank into checking account and emailed it to me.
I forward that info to bank.
Bank says IGF only sent a memo that the deposit was going to be deposited but sometime later that day for whatever unknown reason the memo fell off and money was never deposited.
Bank said Idaho still has the money.
I called Idaho back and was told they are working on resending refunds to people this happened to and that it could take up to two weeks.
Meanwhile my account is way overdrawn with other pending transactions on the way. I can't even use my checking account.
I'm not about to deposit the money to bring my account to a positive balance until someone finds the money that seems to have gone mia.

I just checked my card and my Idaho moose refund x2 (for brother's app) says "pending". Today is the first I've seen anything on the card.

After reading this I checked and my pending refund is also MIA now. Is that normal or do I need to reach out

Mine was pending all last week and, like with @okie archer, was totally gone today. The bankcard people said the problem wasn’t on their side. Of course, the IDFG offices were already closed when I discovered this.

So you have to buy the tag at full price then if not drawn they reimburse you? If so when raising a stink I'd say I can't trust the state anymore and won't be applying in the future...maybe find out who key legislators are and copy them with a complaint as well.

As much as fronting money helps odds, you can’t expect me to front the money if you can’t issue the frickin refund. Seems like standard government incompetence. They rarely pay price for failures because they’re the only ones allowed to do what they do. It’s no like you can just use one of the other IDGF application services next year. If you could, the losers would go bankrupt in short order, and only those who did their job would remain.

It sucks but dang why are people playing $2600 low odds tag chasing games without having the money to play with first. Writing bad checks because one refund got hung up is a tough, self induced spot to be in.

Suck it up and save the nonres tag chasing money and keep that free board available like its own saving account if you have to.

My sheep refund posted on May 28 no issues, but I received a refund check I deposited not a credit card credit.

From website: Idaho Fish and Game generally returns tag fees via the original payment method if you applied online or over the phone, which is typically a credit or debit card. If you paid in person at a Fish and Game office or vendor, you'll receive a state warrant (check) in the mail.

Not sure why an in person credit card purchase gets refunded by check but an online credit card purchase goes back to the card directly.

How did the OP purchase his application? Just seems odd to see a direct deposit from IDFAG into ones bank account. I received a paper check for my refund.

Whatever you do, don’t raise a stink about fronting the tag fee. Nothing ruins draw odds like allowing everyone to apply for $10.
I have a strong feeling the Idaho NR moose draw odds will be drastically worse next year when the general elk draw requires a hunting license purchase.

But I do agree with you and wish every state required fronting the tag fees to apply.

Just to clarify.
I only made purchases from my account AFTER my online banking app showed the moose refund to be credited to my account. I had no idea the refund deposit would be yanked back out of my account causing "bounced checks" from those couple of purchases. I was spending money I thought was there based on my transaction history.
My bank covered the 2-3 purchases and are not charging me insufficient funds fees once Idaho fixes their goof up.
Meanwhile I'm operating out of a different account when not using cash.
This is not a case of me spending money while waiting and hoping my refund comes so it will cover purchases.

i think you are 100% correct. Darn shame too, a rare “reasonable” nonres moose draw odds opp gone overnight. Thankful brother and I lucked out with moose in ID already

💯 on fronting fees. Colorado is a poster child for what dropping fees up front did to OIL species.

I hadn’t thought of the potential impact on NR trophy odds.
