Just did my NM apps for sheep and Ibex. The new pay up front gig is going to put a hurtin on the old bank account this year. Good thing I got a little cash coming from AZ soon (i hope)
Is this going to put any of you guys out of applying for anything there?

I passed them both this year. Tightwad, I know. Just can't justify the outlay given the pitiful odds, even though I suspect odds will improve with the money up front requirement.

I'll probably give it a go for Ibex with the wife's credit card. Hard to pass on since the Florida Mtns are only 40 minutes a way. Sheep aint gonna happen.

I hear ya on the ouch. Wife and I are in a re-budgeting mode and things like NM apps have had to go. I guess there's always next year...

Yea I bet odds for the sheep go WAAAAAY up. Since there is no points like AZ or other states guys really are not giving much up by not applying. I really need to think this all over, since MT big 3 is coming up as well I need to make sure I have enough cash to go around. I almost did not pop for the sheep with that over 3k in charges on a card but figure I would try it this year and if odds do not go up at least 30% from years past I will drop out next year. Anyone want to make a guess as to what odds changes are? Maybe we can remember to dig this post back up in a year and see who was the closest.
My guess will be 27% change.

It's hard to say how much the up front money will change the odds, but I don't think it will make as big of difference as the overall state of the economy will. There isn't a great difference between using a card to pay if you draw vs. using a card to pay up front. The big difference is that there will be fewer people with that much room on their cards, due to the economy.
