I like the lists I've and I am pretty close in agreement but I'd change an couple simply based on how often I use each gun.

1: Glock 29 - 10mm, This is my first as I carry it everyday.
2: Benelli Nova - 12 Gauge, This is next as I poke at way more birds than big game and can also be used for home defense.
3: Ruger Guide Gun - .375 Ruger, I use this bastard for all my big game hunting, might be over-kill but definitely not under-kill.
4: AR-15 - 6.5 Grendel, This can be used for HD, Coyotes, and Antelope/Deer
5: 10/22- Fun gun and pesky wabbits

Anything past that would be redundant or more niche purpose guns like I'd love to get a 20 ga Benelli Ultralight for upland birds but the Nova has a wider range of use. Or I could go with a smaller caliber bolt gun but on my bucket list I have a goal of taking one of every big game species in MT with the same rifle and I'm really hoping one day I can draw a Grizzly tag.

As I said earlier in this thread

I agree with carl 9.3 x 62

and now Brent. I even like Brent's "needle", I mean statement (-;

I'm gonna jump straight to 3 guns.
7mm Rem Mag. Can be loaded up or down as needed.
20ga. As versatile as 12 ga, but less recoil.
1911 in 45 ACP. If you have to ask, then you'll never figure it out.

I had to ponder this one a bit as going down to 1 gun would be no joke. After a little post-workout recovery drink (aka Eagle Rare) - mine would be a Ruger Vaquero, .44 Mag with a 5 1/2" barrel.

I can load down to plink with (if memory serves a 240 gr wad-cutter over 6 gr of Unique from my cowboy action shooting days), use shot shells for some limited bird action or throw in 300 gr hard cast for big game.

1 gun- 12 gauge
2 guns- + .22LR
3 guns- + 30-06
4 guns- + 22-250
5 guns- + .45 ACP
6 guns- + 7mm-08
7 guns- + Anything else is just extra

If just one gun? A Savage 24 in 12ga/.223

Interesting take. Birds out of a revolver is a bit of a stretch for me.

We're talking 1 gun here. If I'm going down to 1 gun, there's gonna be more "ground-slusing" happening ;)

Personally, I have always employed Pat McManus's take on the number of guns owned - the wife only counts the empty spots in the safe. If you need - buy a bigger safe and keep the same number of spots open. Plus gun-lamps, work a couple of those in too.

This game seemed easy at first, and then I tried to think of my list... here it goes though lol

1) 12 gauge (most versatile)
2) 9mm hand gun (my favorite ccw)
3) 6.5 CM bolt (med game hunting and LR target)
4) AR15 in 223 (fun to shoot and can be loaded for varmints to target to self defense)
5) 300WM (can handle any animal in North America)
6) 22LR (great to teach people on and everybody needs one)
7) Kel Tec Sub 2000 (just because)
8) H&K MP5 (also, just because)

This is my current list of what I have/still want, put into if I had to start choosing (thankful I don’t). Now, if we start talking pick guns for the apocalypse I might adjust a little lol

I thought about this one for a couple days. I'm bad at choosing favorites but I forced myself to choose one. I have my father's old marlin model 336 in .30-30 win. It could handle the criteria set in the original post good enough for me.

1 - 12 gauge with both a field barrel and a slug barrel (for versatility)
2 - 40 cal handgun (for carrying)
3 - 308 (for western hunting)
4 - 20 gauge (for kids to use and small game hunting)
5 - muzzleloader (for primitive weapons hunting)
6 - 22 (for varmint control and plinking)
7 - 5.56mm/223 (for defense and for fun)
8 - 357 revolver (for home defense and for fun)

That would cover all the bases for me but if you're allowing two more I'd opt for 300 win mag and for 44 magnum.
