Leg hold traps?
Went through another gunny sack from dad's stuff this past weekend and drug one of the old forges out from when he was young. Hung several different kind of traps up on the shed. Neighbor said, "OMG! I hope my daughter doesn't see those, she is going to flip out!" Won't go into a very long discussion........ Tough! Even my wife likes them!

What is the leg standing pan type item at the lower right section of the pic, Idnative?

That is a forge. the handle cylinder is the blower. Not sure wat the clamp in the rim is though.

Your neighbor wouldn't want to come in my shop. Would be his House of Horrors. Legholds, conibears, snares, stretched hides drying, you name it.

The clamp on the rim is what remains of the hand crank and gearbox that would have operated the blower under the firepot. Wish it was still there....

Just one little thing, they are foot hold traps.

Doesn't sound like much of a difference, but to a trapper there is a big difference.

You just reminded me that the pa trappers convention is this weekend.I love to trap yotes and display it proudly.Been trapping since I was 10,and still have to get out every year

Haven't been to the ID convention since 2009. Used to take dad and he was always glad to dispense some of his old cat trapping knowledge to those who didn't think they knew everything. Always amazed quite a few guys when he could still open a trap over his knee instead of having to stand on it.

I'd love to get out in your area someday and trap some cats.We have a few here but not near as nice as western cats.Just to run a western line for a week or two would be a thrill for me.Trapping is how I first got into the outdoor lifestyle.I use to run muskrat lines with a couple friends from school way back when.Then I finally talked my Dad into taking me to hunter ed. and hunting.I'm still the only one in my family that hunts/traps

We grew up holding our noses so we didn't have to smell dad's coveralls or what kind of putrid bait he had *cooking* in the back of his old truck. Then we'd get out into the desert where he kept a couple of old tubs that he would dump trash fish and let them simmer. The kitties sure came to that smell and some feathers tied to the sagebrush.

I'll second that. His shop smells of dead critters and then has all the above mentioned items that go along with the smells. Was thinking of doing a walk through haunted house in October at Fin's place.

Those are nothing more than the smells of successes, past, present, and future.
The smell in my garage would put a big smile on any old predator.
