Not a thing wrong with killing a cow on a general. I have done it and would do it again.

I had a buddy who was able to meet me within an hour. He's about half my age and twice as strong, but there was no way we were going to be able to pull her out of that creek once her hide got waterlogged. Not with out mechanized equipment anyway. We employed the gutless quartering method to keep the meat from getting wet (skin and cut everything above the waterline and then flip her over and do the same on the other side).
