Newest US Senate Land Sale Amendment

Here is how he responded on IG to the same criticism.

I think Lee is a snake. I don't trust him. I wouldn't be diplomatic with him if I was in a room with him. I would, as he states, crap all over him.

But, we have someone who can get in the same room as him who is on our side, but he tried to do it diplomatically...maybe that's a win despite the fact that most of us would have told Lee to eat a turd and walked out.

Ironic comment from a guy who has a well-deserved reputation for crapping on people via social media.

Nice job all (and Randy, we all owe you a beer when you're in town)! I agree with many others who've posted here, that we need to speak out to those elected reps who spoke up for public lands, and thank them. Also, all Republicans should be speaking out to the National Party now, while we have momentum and urging them to remove public land transfer from their national platform. The real win will be turning public land transfer into a new third rail for all politicians. Seems like we've got an opportunity to move in that direction here.

Look who got thanked. I guess Lee pushed it until the end.

Don't wish to rain on this celebratory parade of posts .... but this Presidential expression of gratitude causes concern. The transactional quid pro quo nature of this Administration is widely agreed upon, now to the extent there may be forthcoming maybe not immediate, but soon, an Oval Office Executive Order to sell some public lands and to further "DOGE" deferred maintenance and routine support of other public lands. 'Just sayin' be vigilant.

I don’t think that group did a damn thing. He is on board. Do you think that board ever meets or talks? That entire group is basically Keith Mark and another wealthy attorney along with Ted Nugents money. Sorry if I seem callous. This group brings nothing but negativity to our image as hunters.

DT Jr and Hunter Nation taking credit after the fact is not surprising. Credit goes to Randy and all the groups and public land users that have been applying pressure from the beginning.
I have zero interest or info on that group. Just saw it. Guess I should have expected it.

We know to whom and where the credit should go, can't thank @Big Fin and crew enough.

Took the words out of my mouth. Nothing would surprise me less than an executive order to sell public lands citing an emergency shortage of affordable housing.

Got the win. Some folks immediately start pointing fingers at the folks who didn’t do enough and some folks jump to claim credit for what they did.

Dudes who actually did the heavy lifting and organizing are hiking and recharging themselves with some nature therapy and getting ready for the next fight.

Not connecting myself in any way to my reference above regarding heavy lifting, but I just got out of the woods after spending a night and this morning in reflection and mourning the loss of a friend who passed. I attended his memorial in the afternoon and then headed to public land to process.IMG_7876.jpeg

Rest in peace my friend.

Mike Lee and any other politician who wants to dispose of the places where I made memories with those I love and molded me into the man I am.
“NOT ONE ACRE!”*

If we’re going to dispose, swap or sell any parcel of public lands it must be under parameters of current legislation that mandates the proceeds of any individual land sale be reinvested into purchasing land to replace acreage sold.

I fear you’re on to something here.

I get the jubilation surrounding Lee pulling his proposal, but I wish he had not done that. It would have been better if the BBB would have had to go to a vote with this included (there is a lot more in there I don’t like aside from just this).

To me, forcing that issue and seeing how some of the Senators actually would have voted would have had a better sense of finality to it. Stay tuned on this one, I’m not ready to consider it dead at this time.

Let's get past the Reconciliation Bill. Passing stupid amendments is more difficult outside reconciliation process.

I don't think POTUS can dispose of public lands through executive order. That being said, I have been wrong before.
I fear it might be a directive to pursue disposal of lands already identified suitable for disposal in existing plans.

You’re probably (hopefully) right. I honestly have no idea what can be done or not, but it seems like there’s no end to what can be done in the name of an “emergency” these days.

I can live with this. Review, analysis and public involvement. Much better than the whacky just dispose of 2-3 millions acres by such and such date....sorry, I forgot what the time line was...5 years?

Trump's been very unhappy with Tillis after his opposition to the BBB and vowed to primary him. Today Tillis announced he isn't seeking reelection. Makes sense as to why he found the nerve to include public land preservation into his stance at the end yesterday.

This is what happens when you stand up and speak out.

Didn't see that you had posted this when I posted. Trump isn't the reason Tillis isn't seeking reelection, he's the nail in the coffin. I mentioned yesterday that I didn't think his internals were looking good. He's not been a popular senator during his time in office. He was already going to have a really tough time winning his seat back next year. Throw in a primary challenge to make his base fragment some more and he had no shot of winning.

Ya, he knows the Big Ugly Bill is going to kick over 600k North Carolina residents off of their health care. Apparently Thom can’t stomach screwing over his own constituents anymore. Won’t stand up to take his party back. Just quit.
