I have listened to several of Lee’s speeches, interviews, etc. I have yet to see the man string together 3 sentences that are truthful, honest, and genuine. He just cannot be honest. The average american family cant afford to buy these lands nor the installation of infrastructure to live there. Want to better manage the land then write a bill that earmaks the royalties the Government recieve from our gas and oil to pay for it and keep the selling of our land out of it. AND....the US government does not own thes lands. We do.
“And to those already plotting to go after our public lands another way: Don’t. Unless you like losing.” -Sen. HeinrichJust got a text that Lee's unpopularity is about to bite him in the ass. I'm not sure how this happens, procedurally, but I've been told to stand by. It seems Thune told Lee he wasn't going to win when the amendment came from the MT/ID delegation, so Thune offered to take it out and let Lee save face. If so, that's a victory, but I wanted a show of hands.
If so, Lee and anyone else who decided to FA, needs to FO, that there are serious consequences. He's likely safe in Utah, just how it is. But, as has been mentioned on this thread, he did something nobody has been able to do - take a topic and make it American and disregard any R/D bullshit.
Rs currently willing to vote in favor of removal - Daines, Sheehy, Crapo, Risch, Hawley, Marshall, Schmidt, Tillis, Husted, Moreno, McCormick, Britt, and even more are leaning that way.
From what I understand, Lee has one option. I've been told what it is, but I don't completely understand. If he uses that option, it's almost the nuclear option for him.
I know that many will want to credit Rs for bucking a Chairman, within their party. And we should. Yet, one guy who has committed every part of his body towards this effort since it first was dropped by Lee on June 11th has been Senator Martin Heinrich (D-NM). I had him on a podcast recently, and I've told all of you that he is one of the few elk hunters in Congress. Public land hunting is his identity and what he lives for. He and his staff are always so helpful. I hope he gets the credit he deserves.
Stand by for more....
I did the same, probably not to the extent of knowing the staffers thoughMaybe all my calls and emails to hawley and Schmidt worked. Bout got to know the staffers personally.
Nobody voted to strip the land sale from the BBB. Behind the scenes there were promises from the Rs mentioned in the thread that they would vote for an amendment to remove it so Lee himself ultimately pulled the section from consideration.I did the same, probably not to the extent of knowing the staffers thoughHow can we see that they both voted to strip it out of the BBB? I will be sending thank you notes to them when I see something official.
Just learned that DJ Jr. Is a board member on the group Hunter Nation. DJ Jr. posted his disagreement with the public lands sale and desire to pull it from the bill.
I don't know if I'm the last one to catch this, but it's now making sense where that group came into play.
I’ll bet Lee got his A$$ chewed out privately by the president. The president has his business/agenda to attend to and Lee was in the way of that business with a pet personal project.
