My 1000th post!

I think it's a terrible idea. Utterly ridiculous! Drilling and tapping is a lot of work. Self tapping screws are the way to go here.
The self tapping screws are a good idea but since I am already a DIY hunter, I had decided to go a step further and give home gunsmithing a try. So, I bought a Dewalt drill for the project. Any idea what size bit I need to get at Lowes?

BTW — I am starting to think it might be a good idea to use one of those mounts that lets me flip the scope over to the side so I could use the irons in case of close encounters with charging grizzlies. Of course, that raises the question, what is the best bullet to you use in a 300 Savage for bear protection? Since I will soon have a scope, it would be a plus if the bullet was also streamlined for long range shooting (I think there is a technical term for that but I am not sure what it is).

JB weld the scope directly on it. Be sure the crosshairs look like X in the scope and not like + it improves accuracy.

Use excessive amounts of JB weld snd gorilla tape to secure it forever.
Agree but better to mig weld it. JB weld can fail.

Get one of those cheap Chinese goofy looking scope with a red dot and reflect sight on it. Make sure to get it off of Amazon or AliExpress. Air rifle mounts and bases work too!

This is the perfect drill for the D.I.Y. guy.

Savage got it wrong with the stock, take a hacksaw and turn it to a pistol grip and you can run like Arnold in terminator. Shitty governor but he can run a lever gun
