Still looking at almost 20ftlbs of recoil. Lots of people’s shooting falls apart with anything over 15ftlbs
I just bought a new rifle in 7mmPRC. Put a Scythe Ti suppressor on it and it shoots like a .223! Absokutely no recoil. Thecrifle weighs 7lbs, and I put a Zeiss Conquest 4 4-16x50 scope on it. Over the weight in tge survey but not by much

The "best" mountain rifle is whatever the "best" mountain hunter has in his hands. The world is full of great cartridges, the question is whether the hunter is up to the mountain and the shot. Familiarity with a rifle is more important than what it's chambered in, and physical condition is more important than the rest.

I looked at the survey results and was scratching my head on how many voted for the .308. Im glad the 6.5 PRC made it on the list, but the 7mm PRC did not, nor the 7mm Rem Mag. Nor the .264 Win Mag. Hmmm.

The 308 crept up on me over the decades, literally, after 250 savage, 257 roberts, 260 rem, 6.5x55, (2) 270's
7 x 57 , 280, and 280 AI.
Hitting the combo of a Sako Finnlight with a 1/11 twist, Barnes Bullets, and AA2520 Camp Perry powder designed for the .308

I will never look back.

I always poked fun at my dad for shooting a .308 for everything as long as I can remember. Ended up buying my own just because I had an unlimited amount of brass laying around and the more I shoot it the more I like it. Turns out the old man was right after all, just like with most things.

If you dont intend to shoot beyond 500 - what for?
Good question. I own both, and have always been old school, favoring the alibers that have been around a long time. Both are flatter shooting than the .308. Just started shooting the 7mm PRC with a new rifle. Im impressed by its accuracy. I voted for 6.5mm PRC. A PRC sibling.
