Don’t you all neglect the ad revenue, clicks, views, likes and other monetization livestream execution could whip out. Don’t pretend to be altruistic, just for popularity sake.

I'm all for capitol punishment televised or not. Steal, cut off a finger...or a hand....etc..etc...Not sure putting it on TV matters.

Skipped ahead 8 pages and may be echoing something previously said, but, isn't this another example of current day events mirroring the events of ancient Rome? I asked my buddy Chat to help me come up with a list:

12 Parallels Between Today's World and Ancient Rome

Many political, economic, and social developments in 2026 resemble patterns seen during the decline of the Roman Republic and the Western Roman Empire.

1. Political polarization — Rome's competing factions became increasingly hostile, much like today's bitter divisions between political parties and ideological groups.

2. Concentration of wealth — Rome's wealthy elites accumulated land and resources while ordinary citizens struggled. Today, wealth inequality and corporate concentration raise similar concerns.

3. Erosion of democratic institutions — Roman leaders gradually weakened republican checks and balances. Today, several democracies face concerns about executive power and institutional independence.

4. Mass immigration and border pressures — Rome struggled to manage large population movements across its frontiers. Modern nations face migration pressures and disputes over border security.

5. Currency instability and government debt — Roman emperors debased coinage to meet financial obligations. Modern governments face growing debt, inflation risks, and fiscal pressures.

6. Military overextension — Rome maintained expensive military commitments across vast territories. Today's major powers face costly overseas commitments and competing security threats.

7. Bread and circuses — Roman leaders used food distributions and public entertainment to maintain popular support. Critics see parallels in today's political spectacle, celebrity culture, and entertainment-driven media.

8. Declining trust in leadership — Corruption, patronage, and political self-interest weakened Roman institutions. Modern governments face widespread public distrust and corruption concerns.

9. Dependence on foreign labor and trade — Rome relied on enslaved labor, imported goods, and extensive trade networks. Modern economies similarly depend on global supply chains and migrant labor, though under fundamentally different labor systems.

10. Rise of populist leaders — Figures such as Julius Caesar gained support by challenging established elites. Modern populist movements likewise promise to restore power to ordinary citizens.

11. Cultural and identity conflicts — Rome experienced tensions over citizenship, religion, tradition, and cultural change. Modern societies debate national identity, immigration, religion, and changing social values.

12. Rival powers challenging dominance — Rome faced growing competition and military pressure from neighboring powers. Today, the United States and its allies face challenges from China, Russia, and other regional powers.
