CWD found in 1 elk; ranch quarantined

Kremmling - A ranch has been quarantined after a cow elk at the premises was found to be infected with chronic wasting disease.

The 32-month-old female died Jan. 24 at the Bear Mountain Ranch. Subsequent brain tests were positive for the fatal brain-wasting disease.

State agriculture officials immediately quarantined the remaining 273 animals on the ranch.

Can't be. Game farm elk are healthy. They don't get CWD.

Seriously now, when are these people going to quit farming game animals? These game farmers, if they really care about elk, should convert the money they waste on there pets to protecting and preserving habitat for wild elk.

TheTone, when the hunters in Colorado organize and pass legislation like Montana did to ban them...

huh.

All that Montana banned, was the shooting of the elk, as I understand it. They still support the raising of them for not shooting, i.e. for pets, as you guys say. They like that better, for some reason.

So where does a 32 month old elk get CWD? Did it say?
