I didnt apply for a combo license in MT this year but got a chance to hunt with my family and a few friends. I only had 5 days to spend, but we made the most of the last 5 days of the season.

We started off with a quick trip to the hunting unit my Dad drew his ram tag in a few years ago. He had a ewe bighorn permit this year.

It was a pretty quick deal and one shot from a model 70 25/06 and that hunt was over for Dad.

Another shot of the same ewe, had an eartag, which we didnt see until after the fact.

We hurried back to our deer and elk camp. The next 4 days we spent chasing deer and elk. The camp total was 3 mule deer, 7 whitetails and one elk.

The day after thanksgiving Matt and I knew we would be into game all day. Cold temps and lots of snow.

It didnt take long for this buck to make an appearance and it was costly for the deer. Matt took this one from about 120 yards with a 30/06.

Matt and I started a fire, got his deer all taken care of and in our packs. We had some lunch, warmed up and decided to hunt back to camp down a ridge we'd seen a couple other hunters on. We saw game all the way down the ridge. About 3 pm we located some elk and Matt took this one with one shot from his 30/06 at about 60 yards. So, in less than 7 hours Matt had his elk and deer for the year.

All in all a good season for the family and as usual a good time...27th consecutive year hunting that country.

Looks like another fun trip back 'home'. Congrats.

I'd love to do one of those mountain whitetail hunts one of these years. Looks like it would be a fun hunt. Something diffrent anyway.

That ewe looks pretty good sized.

Nice pics. Sounds like you had a good time with the family.

Great hunt and time spent with the family.. Doesn't get much better than that Buzz. I 'm always impressed in the quality of your hunts. The smiles say it all.

You guys have done well this year again. Kudos to Matt and your Dad !!! I love the snow hunting.... Good pictures dude !!

27 years, wow, do you camp the same place all the time or move around some? Way to go! Congratulations to everyone! That other guy looks like your friend Doug? That's a lot of animals, sounds like the freezers are full.

Family Buzz, Great Job! The question already asked about the size of the Ewe, are they good sized like the picture seems to show? Great as Usual. John
