Leupold scopes love or hate em?

Have you ever tried a Zeiss or a Trijcon or Meopta?
I have two Meopta scopes and like them both. For reference, I zero at 200 yards and don’t shoot past 300 yards so I’m not messing with turrets after I zero it. They shoot where I aim.

For the OP, I owned a VX2 3-9x40 that I had to send in for repair a few years ago because a turret was broken right out of the box. Their customer service was great, they repaired it, and got it back to me quickly. It works just fine now. No issues.

I have a VX3 on my go to hunting rifle (7Mag), and although I don't hate it, I'm not sure I'd buy it again. I think Vortex makes better glass for a similar price point, and the one high end Vortex scope I have on another hunting rifle is heads and shoulders above the Leupold.

That being said, for most western big game hunting where 400-500 is the maximum range I feel comfortable with, it's tough to beat a standard 3-9x40. I find the turrets and dials for elevation adjustments to be obnoxious and not extremely practical in the real world setting. Understand the ballistics of the round your shooting, carry a small chart in your bino pouch with the amount of drop (or memorize it), and use some basic animal anatomy to figure out how high 18" is above the boilermaker ....

I was a diehard Leopold fan until a lost a zero on a scope/gun impact - granted it was a pretty hard impact. The zero moved 9" right & high at 100 yards...

My rifles are topped with Nightforce now...

Is there any advantage to Sticking with only ONE scope manufacturer? For example, I like to stay loyal to a brand... but is there any advantage of picking one and sticking with it?
For example, I have a few rifles I am going to get scopes for. Would it be better to purchase one nice scope and shift between the main rifles... or a few cost effective scopes?

Yes - there is an advantage. 🙂

All the centerfire rifles I use are Schmidt Bender and all have the same P3 reticle. The one on my .223 is the P3 illuminated version but same otherwise. I have used a lot of leopold over the years but currently only have them on rimfires.

I've finally "upgraded" to Leupold scopes on all of my hunting rifles, .22 LR up to .375 RUM. One has their B&C reticle, all the rest have CDS turrets that I have field zeroed at 100, 200, 300, and 430 yds and painted white hash marks for those yardages on the top of the turrets. The .22 LR just has hash marks at 50 and 100 yds.

For many years I had just a Leupold M8 6x scope on my .257 Ackely that was my deer and antelope rifle, but I also shot 4 bighorn rams and a Dall ram with it.

It might not be Rokslide approved, but I love the older VX3s without CDS for a set and forget hunting scope. Took a pretty good tumble in the deadfall today and landed on the scope. Checked zero with a softball sized rock at 300, and it was still spot on. That’s enough of a drop test for my purposes.

M8 6x is a nice scope and when I said I have leupold on rimfires they are not crap rimfires. I used this scope on a lot of big game animals.

I don't buy Chinese. I prefer USA products with a few exceptions. In the way of scopes I have quite a few Leupold and a couple older Redfields and a few Swarovski. When I get asked for a scope recommendation, Leupold is my go to scope for the average hunter.
