This is the best buck I have seen during a general deer hunt in Idaho in a few years. He was sniffing some does, not rutting real heavy, but definitely looking around. My friend and I argued about who was going to shoot it. I told him to shoot it then he told me to shoot it we went back and forth for 10 minutes and and finally he pulled the trigger.

That's a gorgeous buck. Well done. I am ceretain your selflessness will pay big dividends next fall.

Yikes, how wide is that>? Great buck, and it sure is loads of fun when you can sit with your hunt buddy and chit chat over who is pulling the trigger.

Some hunttalker asked 'what goes to the taxi, or on the wall?' THIS is an example of what would go on the wall imo!

Thanks for the posts, he is over 29 inches wide and he is going on the wall. I know that I am not a trophy hunter as I would kill this buck on just about any hunt, he does not score very well which would make him undesirable to the numbers guys.

I was lucky enough to be indoctrinated into hunting by a good friend of mine. He was always supportive of me getting to shoot while putting himself in a back seat. He taught me to shoot when I have a good shot because I may not get another but if the situation arose to maximize the opportunity we did it. He liked to see me increase my personal bests and I feel the same way now with the people I hunt with. If they can shoot something a little better than they have in the past that's cool. My friend that shot this buck really wanted me to shoot it. It was a great experience although I was worried we may have waited too long and the buck would bed down out of sight.

Wish I would have been there. I'd have shot the damn thing while you two argued. Debate over! Great general season deer for sure.
