I personally would have done what Greenhorn suggested. Ain't no time for that when there's hunting to be done, but future hunters would benefit from Dale receiving the maximum amount of resistance from you. Since it seems you are willing, you pursuing this as far as you can is my vote.

Public shaming is a PETA tactic, and I hope we are better than that. Report the harassment, the illegal posting and the illegal guiding and let the proper authorities take it from there. I know, probably nothing will get done about it, but at least it's on the record. Congrats on a great bull!

Normally I would agree. But if "Dale" is running an outfitting business there is a good chance he is screwing over his customers. I have no problem with outing a business that is doing shady things.
If some guy tells me I can't be on my public land, he will be shamed. I am not better than that.

Some years back, a certain well known Gardiner area landowner/outfitter rode up on the wrong hunter, who happened to be hunting USFS near said landowner/outfitter's property boundary. The rider accused the hunter of crossing his property to access the public - words ensued.
Somehow the landowner/outfitter, saddled up and all, came away from the debacle with a blackened eye socket.
The victim of this violence was seen wearing sunglasses around town for a time (shame?). Questions from smiling inquisitors ensued...…...
Although this course of action probably isn't recommended, internet shaming isn't near as fun as this rural legend little story...…………..

I hope you can make this dick-weed hurt over this matter. These kinds of encounters seem to be a very common thing here in 410 and 700 districts. It is nothing new, and was a tactic long used successfully by landowners to keep the bluff on hunters about where their borders are. GPS is changing that finally. It is particularly bad in the area along the Mussellshell and just south of the CMR on the 700 side. Some locals have become a real PITA by thinking they can harass people for things like hunting too close to their property or even stopping and glassing game that is out on their private. It also makes it tough for Wardens, they aren't surveyors and get stuck in the middle on these kind of deals. If you are confident you know where you are, tell them to bring a copy of their survey and the nearest law enforcement or get the heck away from you. You really should reveal where this took place so your fellow public hunters could then go set up a camp at the site of your altercation next season. That would be much better justice than having a wealthy man pay a small fine

I may be the exception, but if it's a good spot, you may want to keep it to yourself and a dozen of your best friends!! LOL This has the classic signs of Hunter Harassment, please file charges! You have his name, place of employment and your Dad for a witness. Most FWP wardens dislike this crap. I found myself escorted off State Land by 6 - 250 lb. outfitters/guides and wished I had taken them on more. As it was, they finally relented when I showed them unmittigable proof on a map that I wasn't in the wrong. FYI, make 'em show you their guide's license! The report them to the Board opf Outfitters. They, too, get pretty mad at bad actors. Remember,as well, it is AGAINST THE LAW to post public land with no trespassing signs.

Sat in on a Game and Fish public advisory meeting last week and one landowner was displeased because everyone "has that OnX Maps and they know exactly where they are". A Game and Fish employee asked isn't it a good thing that they know where they are to which the landowner responded no because they know where they can hunt FS land next to his place. I had to avoid bursting out laughing.

Montana has a 4 man1000 lb. weight limit to a full section of state land as the legal limit for guides/outfitters(best state I am kidding, or else I will find myself being raked over for false advertising).
Now, to the topic at hand:
If this incident occurred(I have no reason to believe it did not happen) and if "Dale" is a licensed outfitter he needs to be censured. If "dale" is outfitting on public lands w/out a license he needs to have the book thrown at him, as this is a felony (you can thank the good folks at MOGA for sponsoring that legislature).
