Monumental announcement. Life just keeps getting better for public land lovers in the Grand Valley.

Hunted the Uncompagre many years camped above Escalante creek. Great memories and great acquisition.

If you read the whole article, this parcel sounds like a real gem, far beyond the # of acres transferred.

The portion under the grazing lease, 1000 acres, is closed to public access dangit. Lot's of turkey on that part.

It is a beautiful spot and the folks operating that ranch were pretty nice whenever I interacted with them working in that area a decade ago. Glad it is now (mostly) public!

Nice use of the LWCF! My one time hike in that area, we ran into some of the bighorns in the canyon. Cool place.

Every time I drive up from the bottom I see lots of bighorns
