Anyone know anything about these? They have kind of a retro Land Rover/G-Wagon vibe. Look like a pretty cool off-road camping rig but I'm also a little hesitant on new-to-the-market designs.

There's a few running around our city...cool looking vehicles w/plenty positive online vids. I hear mostly good things.

$100k+ Jeep Gladiator. I guess some guys need something else to trade in their Cybertruck for…

Lots of them around me. I like the look. I think I read that it has a BMW engine. It’s a blatant knockoff of the old style Defender. Guy who started the company tried to buy the rights/patents to the old design, but Land Rover wouldn’t sell. So he just did a knockoff. Downside is they are a new company and don’t have the sales and service network that other brands have. That can be a challenge if you’re not near a large metropolitan area.

I was checking one out in the car barn of a project we did today. I don't see the attraction. Especially for the money. But this particular client has an Icon FJ 44 also. And 3 decked out 392 Wranglers among other cool stuff. So toys not a problem. I'd pick something else. mtmuley

They ride rough - but look cool; limited dealership network.

Pretty niche if that’s what you’re going for. Similar to G Wagons, Range / Land Rovers, etc - it’s for metropolitans to look outdoorsy.

Ineos is one of the larger chemical companies in the world. This is the owner’s pet project in response to the discontinuation of the Land Rover Defender.

It’s basically an amalgamation of the best parts of every utilitarian 4x4 rig produced. Apparently they initially tried to buy the Defender tooling but were denied, so they started from the ground up.

If I had to pick between two billionaire’s pet truck projects I’d say this one wins hands down. And the Cyber Shart was build by an actual pre-existing car company (although it was seemingly designed by teenage boys who watch anime porn and talk about their crypto wallets).

I won’t even look at or discuss price as I’m sure it’s absurd. But, from a design standpoint it’s pretty interesting. Probably the only production stock vehicle one could drive off the lot and do Cairo to Capetown.

I went through three models of Land Rovers before I went back to GM. I spent a lot of wrench time on each vehicle.
I’ll bet. Hopefully they improved upon that part of Land Rovers. Then again, it is still a British car, so anyone considering it ought to buy an extra for parts.

My ex drives a 2016 Range Rover SLE that she bought new. Over 100k miles on it and hasn’t had any real issues. YMMV.

"It’s for metropolitans to look outdoorsy." Well said. I've spent a bit of time riding (on pavement) in my friend's Grenadier. Thought it rode ok on road, could see if being real rough off-road.

Only 22 dealerships around the country, have to imagine service and parts are $$$$$.

Is her new beau a seasoned Brit car mechanic or what? Hahaha.

I really don’t know anything about them except that the old Defenders need the valves adjusted at crazy tight intervals. Historically British cars have had, at best, a very mixed reputation for reliability. Hence the joke.

I really just wish Toyota would produce some new purely utilitarian, no power windows or locks or anything, get out to lock the hubs, see the entire engine when you open the hood, type of Taliban trucks again.
