If a guy wanted to retire in Wyoming what towns should he look at?

how is the evanston area? how bad does the wind blow there? am trying to look myself for a wyoming option on the westerly side that isnt as expensive as the jackson area.

I lived in Worland for 9 months. The sugar beet processing facility stunk up the whole town when the wind was right. Other than that it was awesome, great people! Manderson is the only place in the bighorn basin I would not live.

Nothing wrong with planning and having a dream. Bear in mind if the place you’re dreaming of and planning for will still be the dream 10-20 years down the road.
Nothing wrong with moving again after you retire and live in a place awhile and find its not what your looking for but moving is expensive and gets harder once you are older.
At 63 this is sort of my situation. My dreams are changing some from even 10 years ago.

Ive worked quite a lot in WY. I personally like Wheatland, Douglas, Sundance. Areas like Pinedale are nice but it stays winter for about 7 months. I think areas like Sherdian and Buffalo are getting quite expensive. Best of luck on your move.

Evanston is fine but I don't know why it would be on anyone's list of places to live in Wyo. Like @antlerradar said, it might as well just be a city in UT with better tax structure. Surprising number of folks in Evanston work in UT and commute. The Mnts surrounding Evanston are covered with folks from the SLC valley come the weekend. Wind is typically fine in Evanston but it's just a growing SLC suburb really. Turns into a huge truck stop several times a winter. If you want to take advantage of the benefits of living in WY, you have to be able to put up with some of the shit you have to deal with in WY. Much better places to do this than Evanston, IMO.
