I echo what Jose said. Having grown up in Salmon and floated that river as a kid I can just remember how those canyon walls seemed to reach to the sky. I would of been afraid of a rattler sleeping like you did in those rocks.
I have fond memories of horseback trips into the Crags fishing those high mountain lakes as well.
