Idaho Lt. Gov claims Idaho owns federal lands

This -

Crazy R like a fox.

The Lt Gov (aka Hedley Lamarr) forced Governor Little to rescind her Executive Order, which she will certainly use to call him the enemy of liberty during her campaign.

For her part, if you keep posting selfies with fringe groupers to your social media, and then taking it down because, "...it caused people to make comments about me which are not my true character.", you might need to examine your true character.

For those not familiar with the minutiae of Idaho politics; when Governor Little was out of state in May, Lt Gov McGeachin issued an Executive Order removing all mask mandates from the State of Idaho. Governor Little then reversed it on the grounds that it had already been a bill in this legislative session and failed a floor vote, and that the policy of the State of Idaho is not to overrule mandates from local governments. The concept being that the government closest to the people governs best.

Living near to Moscow in Latah County, I get that we are all tired of masks, but McGeachin was not thinking of freedom and liberty. She was pushing the Governor into a box she can hang around his neck come election time.

BTW - If you collide with a moose in Fremont County, remember that IDFG and IDOT did not push migration corridor overpasses in Island Park for the same reasoning of not forcing localities into line with State policy. The good people of Fremont County prefer their property aesthetics over public safety and science driven game management. Said County Commissioners resolving by vote to have no wildlife highway crossings in their beautiful piece of Utah. ( Oh sorry, I mean Idaho. ) I don't know or care what they think about masks. I'm not going to Island Park, I might hit a moose. I suppose I could be convinced to go down there to set up a spotter surveillance to try to get that $40,000 reward for the Island Park serial grizzly poacher. (Thank Ryan Callaghan for showing them where to look in a conservation YouTube about IDFG grizzly work. Ironic, no? )

@TheTone is right. McGeachin needs to be shut down at the primary because there are a lot of R's who will vote for her in the general election even if she were running a brothel and selling bootleg liquor out the back door. It has yet to be seen if Paulette Jordan is going to declare for the Democrats. Who else, Lauren McLean ?

I do not think she can touch Gov. Little if he runs again. Most reasonable people seem to understand that he had a difficult line to walk regarding the pandemic. I do worry that the reasonable people don't vote sometimes. But then I was in Lemhi County last week. They would wrap her in Gasden and "F$@k Biden" flags and put her on a pedestal.

Idaho says, "Hold my beer."

And I thought it couldn't get worse than the GOP who are presently trashing Montana. Wow! I can't imagine why any decent upstanding person with a shred of self respect would cling to that party today. I fully expect the Republican party to disintegrate and split before/during the next presidential election. It may take the GOP a while to get rid of the fringe trash and back on its feet. But there ain't much hope for a politically balanced and safely sane America if it doesn't.

What I'm reading is she unilaterally revoked the governor's mask mandate order the moment he left the state for a conference. He came back the next day and reinstated it. Called her action an abuse of power ... which it is. She has also gone on record as supporting the Bundy standoff creeps as victims of "govt heavy hand." A proud Tea Party nut. Yeah, you can sit down and have a beer with that nut job but I'll pass. Her insanity may be contageous.
We didn’t and never have had a state mask mandate, she decided to kill the ability of anyone to have a mask order. It was purely a political move to appeal to her base and also to prove a difference between her and Little going into next year.

Trying to get her to see the value of public lands (or anything else) through a pint night or conversation won’t work. She and much of her ilk are getting their thoughts and marching orders from Idaho Freedom Foundation. They seem to truly be poisoning the well on rational thought in the legislature

OTOH, if you compare the death rates, they did better than Montana with our strict mask mandate. Data is pesky like that.

Oh come on! I spent six weeks in Montana last fall hunting. Maybe Bullock mandated masks but almost everyone ignored it and no one enforced it. A total joke. Mind you my exposure was only at gas stations and grocery stores but the general lack of respect for law (and neighbours' health) blew me away. I remember one truck stop that posted on the door NOT to wear a mask inside. Unfortunately the pump wouldn't take my Canadian debit card without a zip code (like Town Pump thinks everyone in the world lives in the US) so I had to go in to pay. The battleaxe at the till actually gave me shit for wearing a mask! Need to stand up for my constitutional freedom, blah, blah! In grocery stores half the checkout clerks didn't wear masks or had them pulled down below their chin. I never saw anyone stocking shelves who wore one. Not even produce. Never saw a fast food drive through person who wore a mask or gloves. Not one! I quickly gave up on that! I have no idea what it was like in Idaho but could not have been worse sanitation than what I saw in Montana. Wish I would have taken a photo of the sign on casino door at the Malta Town Pump. "If you are freaked out about people not wearing masks or not keeping their distance, don't come in here. Write Governor Bullock and thank him for making us close at ten." Really! Not to worry. Gambling is not my thing. I haven't even bought a lottery ticket in the last thirty years.

Curiously, the ONLY place of business I encountered where the mask mandate was rigidly enforced was ... you won't believe this ... the Hwy 2 truck stop on Ft Belknap reservation. They even had a large spray painted sign out on the highway reminding people to "Please Mask Up." I gave them as much business as I could.

It truly amazes me how far from reality you are sometimes. Unbelievable...

Actually Ontario has a pretty accurate perspective of redneck Montana. I ought to know, 'been around here for over seven decades, most of it as a Republican, but lately the R's with their "stolen" election and "just a bad cold" pandemic have made me say, "unbelievable"! Just have another shot of clorox!

What exactly is redneck Montana? Everywhere but Bozeman and Missoula? Or just the hi line?
Ontario thinks the Republican Party is going to implode before the next election...the R’s just swept Montana, and have a strong hold on many other states. I don’t agree with them on everything, but I don’t agree with the dems on everything either. As long as defund the police is a talking point and riots are taking place in Democratic run cities there will be more and more support to the Republican side. It’s not going anywhere...that’s where he is a long way from reality.

Bottom line is the country is as divided as its ever been, and it’s not going to get better in the near future. Our best chance is for people to shut off the news and start being neighborly again.

You are right on there; I agree. However, you said nothing to contradict Ontario. Redneck Montana is border to border. Hey, I'm from the Bozeman area. Anecdotal account: last June we are enjoying a burger and beer on the back patio of a favorite spot, York Bar. Wife goes in the bar to pick up food with mask on, redneck gals say, "Don't worry, we wont' give you Covid." Wife says, "My mask is worn for YOU not me; I'm from Gallatin County!" Now who was unrealistic and in denial?

Neighborliness and recognition of truth, facts, and integrity. Mostly R's are currently on the crazy side of that. As an Independent, I don't deny D's are a bit out of whack also, but if you honestly look at who we elected in Montana last go around, you can't be confident that Montanans are running Montana.

I agree with most all of what you said.
Regarding the situation at the York bar...that’s what I’m saying about being neighborly. We need to quit making everything political and judging people based on a face mask. If people want to wear them then great, if not then that is their choice. The minute that bartender seen your wife with a mask she decided to make it a point of contention as opposed to allowing it without any issues.

Im not a gianforte fan at all. However, his ability to buy name recognition and the federal level democrat policies are what caused our current situation with MT politics. There are a lot of small businesses in this state that made the decision to vote R based on what was going on nationwide.

The unfortunate part is the fringe/crazies are the ones making all the noise. If the news outlets weren’t pushing one side or the other we may actually end up with a decent candidate one of these days. Who in their right mind would run for President these days? It’s nothing but a smear campaign for 4 years from one side or the other. It’s a sad situation and we are stuck choosing between two shit sandwiches.

Agreed and I think this is indicative of larger social issues, we complain about the "Karen's" of the world, but if you are harassing someone in public or someone just doing their job, you are a Karen.

I went from super liberal to super conservative areas a bunch this year. Some people are reasonable and decent, some are twats. About the same percentage wherever you go.

Summary: There are twats, assholes, and dicks from all ideologies and persuasions.

Personally I do believe the GOP is in a scary place right now. This isn’t necessarily and Idaho thing, the GOP has a faction of its party that has turned quite extreme. I would say in some states it’s not a majority of the party but it is around 30-35% of them, and delegates. That’s the issue, it doesn’t have to be an overall majority to get loons elected. That 30% can show up during a primary and you’ll end up with Ammon Bundy as Governor of a state. I’d like to see it get better by then, but of late it’s gotten worse from some local local elections I’ve seen within the GOP. The farther right candidates are getting places within the party and it’s not a good thing. Centrism will always be far more favorable to all of us than the extremism abyss we’re headed into.
