Man it is nice to get out of the inside office and into the outside office once in awhile (wow, that is tricky to say fast).

About an hour out, I got to enjoy a great sunrise.

This little guy was with its mom and two siblings.

Not a great picture, but this was a pretty nice buck.

Here are a few bucks. No bigguns', but a decent 4x5.

How come they never stand still when I have a gun?

Finally reached my destination. Upper Missouri River Breaks. Total gravel road miles traveled=90. Number of vehicles seen=0. Just the way I like it.

Pointer, I've been thinking of going to college and doing something with either BLM or IDFG. I'm not sure which one yet. I know I want to make a reasonable amount of money and I also want to be outside when I work but also inside sometimes. Any ideas on what I could shoot for and what the requirements of each are??

Thanks for the compliments on the pictures.

Ithaca, no fires close by, but we are getting some smoke from the west part of the state.

Nut, feel free to use the picture, but better yet, get out here and get some shots of your own. I can show you around and house you for a few days.

Paul, good to hear from you . Ya I am planning on getting back to Lost River next spring. Have you looked into another bear hunt yourself? Looking forward to hearing about your fall bear hunts? Let us know how it goes down.

TK, as mentioned by pointer, I am a biologist for BLM. Pretty good gig, but not getting rich by any means. If you are curious about the requirements for a Federal biological science position, here you go. I am sure Pointer can give you some good advise.

Basic Requirements:

a. Degree: biological science that included:

- At least 9 semester hours in such wildlife subjects as mammalogy,
ornithology, animal ecology, wildlife management, or research courses in the
field of wildlife biology; and
- At least 12 semester hours in zoology in such subjects as general zoology,
invertebrate zoology, vertebrate zoology, comparative anatomy, physiology,
genetics, ecology, cellular biology, parasitology, entomology, or research
courses in such subjects (Excess courses in wildlife biology may be used to
meet the zoology requirements where appropriate.); and
- At least 9 semester hours in botany or the related plant sciences.

OR

Combination of education and experience-equivalent to a major in biological
science (i.e., at least 30 semester hours), with at least 9 semester hours in
wildlife subjects, 12 semester hours in zoology, and 9 semester hours in
botany or related plant science, as shown in A above, plus appropriate
experience or additional education.

GS-05: Only the basic requirements are needed to qualify.

GS-07: In addition to meeting the basic requirements, must also have 1 year of
graduate-level education OR superior academic achievement OR 1 year
specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-5.

GS-09: In addition to meeting the basic requirements, must also have 2 years
of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree
or master's or equivalent graduate degree OR 1 year specialized experience
equivalent to at least GS-7.

GS-11: In addition to meeting the basic requirements, must also have 3 years
of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D degree or
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR 1 year specialized experience
equivalent to at least GS-9.

Mt, how long did it take you to graduate with your degree?? What college did you go to and also do you need great grades??

I'm not super smart by no means but I get all A's B's and a C or two sometimes.

We don't have the money for me to go to a big time college and I don't have the 'ships for anything to put towards college either so I'm kinda stuck between a rock and a hard place I think. Thanks for the basic help though. I don't need to be rich....I just want a job where I'm not barely scraping by in life for ever.
