Did 8.81 miles in the Roosevelt Kingdom , saw one bull a mile away ,
A6D8902B-4D64-483E-A063-F20051CB76D7.jpeghad another elk cruise right under me from 60yds , Never saw what it was only saw part of the body. Found a couple new elk trails it appears that the elk didn’t come through here that often because the trails were really hard to see

That is great! It seems like you are putting in your scouting. Hope it pays off with a nice bull.

ya me too ! or a small bull , Definitely looking forward to the opportunity and some good elk encounters this fall , and continued growth in archery. I don’t seem to have a problem finding elk to hunt it just seems none have wanted to volunteer for a ride home in my Tacoma .. ha ha

Maybe this is the season. Happy hunting!

Started doing power yoga again regularly. Really helps with the old nagging wear and tear injuries To the body. Rodney Yee has a great dvd which gives an hour workout.

Sitting on a high point waiting to see if the elk show up tonight, season opens tomorrow, so I’m taking astronomy pics while I wait , still got an hour and a half of light left

there was a nice 4 point here this morning right below me, I watched him rake a alder for 3 min

The way he was acting I figured he was
Shadowing a herd , After the bull feed out I looped around and went on the road below him and found out why that bull was hanging back , looked like the group was less than 10 from the tracks I saw , but the bull with the cows was cranky and was snapping trees right in half , no rubbing no raking, just raw power snapping them in half

I’m just under 5’8” and that tree was snapped in half lvl with my shoulders and neck . Waiting to see if they come back before dark to feed , or if this group just kept pushing north today . Exciting time to be in the elk woods

😍 we had a keg of each at my wedding.

My other favorite was Prickly pear from L&C. MT hadn’t figured out sours in ‘14 but some good brews nevertheless.
My kind of wedding drinks... I’m partial to Red Lodge Ales too. Glacier Amber, Helio Hefeweizen, and Bent Nail IPA are all outstanding.

2 weeks from today, I’ll be hunting!
I hiked/jogged 5 miles. this morning I Took some meat out of the freezer to thaw to make some prepared basecamp meals, went to Walmart to buy some groceries like almonds, Tuna packets, instant potatoes and spotted cow. Its almost noon, so it’s time to get in the Spotted Cow!

Hit the range this morning. Shooting 1 inch groups with the muzzy at 100 yards. Season is just under 4 weeks away. Also shot some different loads through my 300 WM and the new compact .243 for the kids.
