Hunt show gripes

Fin you outta mortgage the house and get yourself a decked out tour bus with custom graphics wrapped with your big mug and as many sponsors as possible. And obviously you'd have to pull your custom electric golf cart.

After attending the SHOT show this past year you all could have a field day walking around running into these jack-wagons. Southern, fat, & arrogant was the pre-requisite to get through the doors.

You just lost a ton of points Son! You did not see real Southern Folks at the SHOT show or you would never have made such a Assclown remark, Frankly "I don't give a Damn!" John

sbhooper did you tell him how fat his wife was and how ugly his kids where, while you had his attention?

I was going to, but I could not get him to show me the pictures.:p That guy was a bit of a dip s*** and had a bit of an attitude when I walked up on him. He was not really appreciative of the fact that I just pushed that bull to him. After that, I could not help but rain on his parade a little.

I used to hunt an area in Colorado that had lots of elk and very few decent bulls. It amazed me how many people paid the exorbitant fee for a bull. I ran a bull to a guy from Pennsylvania one year and he shot it. I walked up on him and he was elated at the 6x6 he got that had 90 cows with him. I told him that it was not even a good satellite bull in New Mexico and I don't think he appreciated it. He said that it was the best bull he had seen shot in the several years he had been hunting out there. I just congratulated him and walked off-amazing!

Guy kills a 6x6 and he's elated. You tell him it would not even be a good satellite bull in New Mexico. And he doesn't even act appreciative? Yep that is ''Amazing''.

Easy tiger...my sarcasm was centered around all of the above comments that have knocked those hunting personalities that people don't care for. Many reside from the South. Visualize "Pigman".

If you attend the SHOT show you'll understand what I was referencing. Obviously not a reflection of the South in general.

bmac if you have to be ''Southern,Fat, or Arrogant''to get into the SHOT show, which attribute got you in? We know you are not southern.

...no offense taken here, I knew you meant Loosyanner and Arkansas.:)

Years ago my daughter went through the Montana Hunter Safety program and I sat through the classes with her. I learned something I never knew, that it was illegal to have anybody elses tags in the field on you. I thought it would be smart to carry her tags so they never got lost, but I never did because it was illegal.

Any way I watch Jackie Bushman and his daughter hunting in the Milk River area and she shoots a buck. They are sitting there and he reaches in his pocket and hands her, her tag. I send him a nice email that it was illegal and the reference to the regulations that says it is illegal.

Within 5 minutes I get an email back from him saying I caught them in a blooper, that they shot that scene several times and it was a blooper. He told me congrats. I was like WTF you recreate something illegal and put it on TV. Nothing he said made any sense at all. It really insulted me as if I was very stupid. I emailed him back and had a few choice words for him and obviously never got a reply. Of all the guys on TV he seems like he is the most arrogant. The way he says you could win a hunt with me, like it would be like winning the lottery. ARROGANT

Funny thing next year that section of the Montana regs was gone so you could carry somebody elses tags in the field. I wonder if the great Jackie Bushman had anything to do with that.

He is another idiot that has made millions getting people to sign up for his stupid buckmasters. Bill Miller did the same thing with the North American Hunting Club. I was one of the first suckers and would not be a member if I had not done the lifetime thing when it was cheap. These guys are just scam artists as far as I am concerned. Sportsmen of North America is another one. I signed up for their "free entry into a drawing" and the hillbillies would not leave me alone trying to get me to join their little scam. I finally had to tell them to leave me alone.

I guess I will have to spell it out in detail so that you can understand since you are continuing with the comments. I was among a whole herd of elk, but the trees were so thick that I could not get a shot. I had a cow tag, as I have stated before there were not many good bulls there. I followed the herd as they moved around a ridge and I heard a shot. I walked up on this guy and he starts off with an attitude (you know how those easterners are :)). I tried to be cool about it even though he was a jerk. I said that I had pushed the herd around the hill to him. He looked like he was insulted by the fact that I actually made it possible to shoot his runt bull. That is when he said that it was the biggest he had seen and I could not help myself. I said, "You are kidding-right?" He replied that it was the biggest he had seen in seven years there. Since we were discussing antler size, I told him that his "herd" bull would not even be a good satellite bull in New Mexico.

Just to let you know, I did answer some questions he had about caping etc. I then congratulated him and walked off.

We got several inches of snow that night and I found out that he and his buddies got lost, lost their rented pack horse, and just generally had an interesting time getting out of the area. Seven years hunting there and had no clue.

I suppose that the Western hunters, like Jim Burnwerth who make those 1000 yard shots are much better role models for youngsters than people like Waddell, Rutledge, Spook, etc.??????

I also interpret the laws about carrying someone else's tags to mean actually USING tags that don't belong to the hunter!!!! I can't imagine a game warden making a case against a parent that has his child's tags for safekeeping!!!!!!!

As for us Southerners, we don't hold a candle to all of those Mid-Western "people of Wal-Mart". Maybe it's the attitude of certain people towards our traditions and way of life that keep Dixie alive and well in our hearts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BTW, Bill Miller had nothing to do with the founding of the NAHC, it was started back in 1977 by Paul and Steve Burke. Miller only came on after the NAMG bought the NAHC, NAFC, and several other companies from the British Company that owned them from the mid 80's til the mid 90's. I am an original Charter Member, as well as a Life Member of the NAHC, and as evidenced by my signature line a member of several other organizations. I will agree on the SNA, since I used to also be one of their members. I will also add that I've experienced more hostility towards Southerners and Easterners on this site than any other site I've ever participated on!!!!!!!!!!!!
