How do you fund your Hunting?

Work in marketing/sales at a construction equipment manufacturer.

I've been trying to think of some things I can look to do on the side. Although I think it's tough to do side jobs if you don't know much of how to do home renovations/construction.

Auto mechanic 🔧 Mostly on fleets of vehicles for larger companies. Don’t make a ton of money but I have had steady work regardless of economy changes and they pay my insurance , pay time and a half for anything over 40 hours, and I get a couple bonuses per year based on company profits and that seems to help with the hunting funds.

I've worked at the same place since I was 20. We sell hardware, appliances, furniture, and outdoor power equipment. I've got certification for small engine repair and do all of the work on the power equipment as well as a majority of repairs on company equipment(forklift, computers, etc.). The wife is a special education teacher that's getting her master's degree next year. I'm hoping she gets a big enough pay raise that I can go part time and do more hunting and put in more time at church.

Public safety, 10 years. Wealth of vacation time is a highlight. My job pays all our bills and my wife works PRN in the medical field, which funds our extracurriculars

Special Loans Manager - “Special” more or less means you’re having trouble paying your loan. I collect commercial loans. It gets western sometimes. Had to do some collateral inspections in a questionable part of town a few years back. Given the area, I decided to go around daybreak at about 5:30 am. The overnight low was around 20 degrees. I thought it odd to see a gal walking in the street in a minidress and heels. She motioned for me to stop and roll down the window. Even more odd when she reached for the passenger door handle as I tried to go around her. I used the accelerator to separate her hand from my car door. I think she was in sales.

Another time I had to look at a church and meet with the pastor. After we met I told him I needed to inspect the church and take a few photos. He said he’d come with me. I said thank you but it wasn’t necessary. He said he would in the event “there were any . . . you know, dawgs around the neighborhood”. Thinking about it on the way home, I didn’t recall seeing any pit bulls or dobermans in the neighborhood and then I realized he wasn’t referring to K-9s. I told the wife the story and she green lighted a handheld personal defense device.

Software architect. Most of the systems I work on are supply chain based in the aerospace industry. To fund out of state trips I setup a separate savings account and diverted $100 per paycheck into the account. It worked great for hunting trips until I had to use that funding source for my divorce.

I’m a Professional Land Surveyor and partner/owner of a small engineering and land surveying firm.

Better half is a DVM/Veterinarian and is a partner/owner of a rural vet clinic.

Sounds fancy, but in other words, more money, more problems.

I work as a stuctural component delivery specialist, aka I drive a big truck with shit hanging off all sides! Gets hairy here in Wisconsin in the winter, not the snow and slippery roads but the idiots that think they can still do 80 on the highway through it all! Pays the bills. Prior to that I was a construction framer for 10 years, and I use side jobs (plow snow, paint, flooring, framing) to fund my hobbies

Retired union electrician. I did some estimating and project management as well. When I worked for a living I banked all of my overtime to pay for our hunting trips. Lots of overtime in the tech industry as well as the food processing facilities. They all wanted the facilities upgraded during the holidays when they were shut down.
Now that I am retired we have no loans on anything so I can find some money in our budget to hunt.

I just take crap from everybody.....I'm a wastewater treatment engineer and certified operator. I also work on the drinking water side but prefer the dirty water side. It pays better 😀 Side contracts with small villages pay for my hunts.

H2S!.....that's the smell of money!! Worked wastewater for 11 years, great stuff, really!

I'm the best paid baby-sitter, juggler, BS sniffer you'll ever have the pleasure of meeting.

It's amazing how sensitive my BS sensors have become, I can pick it up without anyone even having to talk.

I can play the CYA game, too, with the absolute best there is.

Not a day goes by that I don't find myself with f2p or smh expressions over the antics of "professional" BSers.

I work for the state as a Project Coordinator. We help protect senior citizens from financial exploitation by providing legal assistance, advice, direct representation. We also conduct legal clinics throughout the year and do about 300k worth of free estate planning, drafting wills, Poss, etc. The pay is terrible and the state doesn't allow me to bring my gun on the road, but I get to help vulnerable adults who society has forgotten about. So I fund my hunts with advocacy work, a good way to ensure that I hunt over-the-counter tags close to home, but I feel good about it while I do. Oh and i also work very long hours during clinic season, which allows me to back time off for hunting season!

One day we will take over the ranch and do something else, but for now, I'm happy to help who I can.

Retired since '05, after 30 1/2 years of government service. I do some custom noxious weed control and push some snow a bit in the winter, for a small bit of extra cash. I don't go far for my hunting, anymore, so there is less of a funding issue.
