Never fear, Coalie is here!

Can't make this stuff up!

Does anyone think this will change anything? My understanding is that damage to resources or not, coal is a more expensive energy source than all other major sources including renewable.

When I hear they stopped drilling for more lucrative sources in NoDak due to cost/return concerns, seems hard to imagine coal would ramp up.

All we were lacking was a mascot. It should be smooth sailing from here on out.

To answer your question, the manner in which OSM is run can absolutely change things for the coal mining industry. Under the Biden Adm it was run as another in a long line of obstacles meant to delay to the point mines died. It is currently being run in much the same manner it was run under all prior Administrations. Some coal sources are absolutely more expensive than other sources. Jesus did not make all coal deposits the same. Some coal fired power plants can absolutely beat the crap out of some renewable projects. Others cannot. It's foolish to lump all energy sources together and say which is better. Some win, some lose. Survival of the fittest.

But at the end of the day, given enough time the coal business will continue to decline. Reversing the brick wall that OSM had become is helpful for today and will change the timeline but really won't change the ultimate answer.
