Have you eaten horse?

Horse meat- one of the more perplexing American taboos. My brother in law sells a lot of it to Russian immigrants via custom slaughter. I honestly can’t recall if I’ve had it or not, but if not, that’s a shame

I’ve got a Russian buddy, and a Ukrainian buddy. Both worked for us, separate times thankfully. Gonna ask em both. Crazy.

I wonder if I’d have an easier time getting one of these big landowners to let me eat one of their old horses than an elk?

I would eat horse and all the invasive wild ones should be exterminated.

I would also like to try whale. After watching whale wars, it got me thinking that it might be good, plus Id eat it out of spite because of those idiots. My Japanese friend said it's not bad, but it's very hard to find it in the states.

I have eaten horse steak a couple times in Quebec. Once by mistake. On the way in to a remote fishing camp for a week, I grabbed a couple packages of steak at the Grocery store in Quebec where we bought food. I didn’t notice the word “Cheval” on the packaging. We noticed a different texture in meat and figured out what it was after digging the wrapper out of the trash. The second time was at a restaurant near Montreal. With my wife’s permission (horse owner) I ordered the horse steak. The flavor was great but again the texture wasn’t beef.

What was the texture like? Curious.

I've eaten horse, lean and meh.

Unlike horse girls... fun but crazy...
All the horse girls I knew could kick the s@&$ out of me…and did. Texas horse girls are another level though!

Had I asked them what horse tasted like would have resorted in my corpse being found (or not) under some cactus in some god for sakin place. 🥩😜

I've had it 2 ways, a Gazpacho and roast marrow bone with toast. It's pretty damn tasty

Back when I was a kid you could buy horse meat down at the Piggly Wiggly. I know I ate some, and I guess I liked it alright, but I couldn't tell you what it tasted like now.

It's been a long time.

It’s good, reminds me more of bison than elk though. Comparatively, light colored meat too.

Hmmm, the stuff I had was really dark colored.
Wonder what the difference could be?

I also thought it had a bit of a sweet flavor to it.

Zebra steak was good too.
