My oldest (turned 9 on Saturday) is on a travel baseball team. They put together a string of wins this past weekend and won the tourney! Took five runs in the bottom of the last inning to do win 8-7, but they brought home the hardware!

One of the other players dad is a bit of a shutter bug and takes pics of the kids every weekend and shares them with the rest of us. He was able to get a pretty good sequence of pics with my son.
The Swing.

The Slide.

The Celebration.

#13 is not telling him he's #2, but 'reminding' him that was his second homerun (they are 8-9 and most homeruns are of the inside the park variety) of the game. He got thrown out at home in his next at bat trying to make it #3 for the game! :D

Just had to brag a bit and thought the pics were pretty cool. Fun weekend at the ball park.

Very cool pics to have around for years to come.
Congrats Dad, and the boys!

MinnesotaHunter- That is only one set of game uniforms and they have practice jerseys, plus matching helmets for everyone. Fees to be on the team are about like a GOOD elk tag. But, in the end it'll work out to about $10 a game for the summer, so it's not horrible. We are a community based team, so you have to live in the town and therefore our fees aren't too bad. Some of the teams that take kids from all over are 3X what I paid...

Oak- The organization spent many hundreds of thousands over the winter on the fields. All 8 fields are field turf infields. As far as I know it is the only all-turf infield youth baseball complex in the state. The boys are spoiled, but we host a lot of tournements ($$$) and these cut way down on rainouts and field prep time between games.

7-08- You guys would be more than welcome! My son's on one of the 3 8u teams. Have your coach's look up Noblesville Youth Baseball and sign up for one of the tournaments (7u thru 12u). It's a neat facility, but not the most impressive in the area. The one in the next town over has over 20 baseball fields and that many or more soccer fields. Youth sports are quite a bit over the top in this area... :D

IDnative- I considered trying to make him a switch hitter, but was advised against it by one of his coaches (who made it to AAA with the Dodgers). So, he just hits from one side. My dad was the same way, throw right and hit left. I would give anything for him to have gotten to see him play just one game. My son hits more like his grandpa than his dad, which is a good thing!

Love the pics!!! Nice field

Enjoy every minute of it as it will be gone before you know it. My son just graduated college last week and was fortunate enough to play on scholarship. He started travel ball at age 11 and just finished college at 22. It seems like yesterday when he started, and now he will be wearing a Police Officer uniform.

Everyone tells you they grow up fast and its true

Great pics. It sure does bring back the memories. Enjoy it, time passes too quick.

Love it! Those turf fields will save you a ton in maintenance and lost practice/game time over the long run.

Love how he's hitting into a firm front side. Excellent! Thanks for sharing.

In talking with the folks on the committee, they hope to have the fields paid off in 6 years and they have a 10yr expected life span. But so far, they've worked great. Biggest downside is from only practicing on turf and then moving to grass/dirt. Takes our kids an inning or so to get used to it. Spoiled they are! ;)

Thanks for noticing! He's big and strong for a 9yo (almost 5' and 110#) and has had some very good coaching in the last year. They worked hard in the cages starting 1/4/16 working on the basics. That firm from side was a result of that. Lots of LOAD, STRIDE, SWING off a tee to get it right and more consistent.

Hes got a future on the CUBS!! ;)
BITE YOUR TONGUE!! ;) That said, if either of my kids made it that far it would be very easy to become a fan of that team, even if it were the Cubs. He'd prefer to be in a StL uniform though.
