So how am I supposed to know it anyone agrees with my last post? Normally there would be 10 likes by now. So dumb
I liked it. And I agree. It’s dumb. I don’t see the point.might be time to stop my only internet interaction. I’m not going to type out a like for pictures and hunting stuff and then have all those notifications too go through because I typed out a like. More important things I could be doing. Life is short, use your time wisely,

The most odd thing about this, of all people to understand 2 sides of argument I would expect an alleged attorney would top the list.

One of the many things I was wrong about. Never experienced someone with such thin skin, and skewed reality of Montana Mule Deer Management.

I guess you hope that a bunch of people quote it or give some simple short reply. I can’t wait for fall so we can see all the “nice buck/bull” posts that could have been a like or some other emoji

I guess the change is good if we are trying to drive the number of posts up. Otherwise, it seems to be a fix for a problem that doesn't exist.

Question though, if we agree with a poster, we now should post and say so or just leave no feedback?

Good post. Lots of guys here that I’ve never met that I feel like I know—you being one of them, Hem. Now I’ll just have to take the time to voice my appreciation for posts like that and guys like you, instead of just hitting “like.” I’m good with that.
I'll be out your way this Fall. Maybe a good opportunity to share a camp.

I guess. I'd be curious to hear more details as to why the change occurred. Opening post was super vague.

Seems like that might lead to even more people needing a hurt feelings report than a simple thumbs down did

There might be the hidden lesson to removing the like button. It may be in this quote

Namaste
Yes, perhaps. I think Hem really summed up what is lost. Through the reactions you find like minded people and allies. It has opened up friendships and further conversations in PM

A lot of forums have become FB where a posting requires a positive atta boy so everyone feels good. Time to stop a trophy for everyone. JMHO

BTW, nobody has to "like" it.

The forum and its existence have nothing to do with posts to fluff up anything, or any other metric. The only metric I care about is the number quality of the discussion and the time required to keep it operating. The intense amount of moderation required in the last six months is what is driving most of my decisions about the forum.
Well to be fair it's been a crazy past six months everywhere . Lots going on and tensions are heightened . But , like the war on drugs and gun control , making more laws or rules rarely make an impact . You will never control the actions of people that are not capable of rational thought . Bullies and people with the pile on mentality are not going to change their ways . IMO . Everybody has the same choice , join in the fun , or get butthurt about something stupid .
Personally that's why I'm here , I miss the camaraderie of working with a group of guys , and I enjoy the Hi-jinks .
But I also get it , it's a business , dollars and cents trumps feelings and wants .
Maybe a three strikes and you are OUT rule ? The mods post the strikes on the threads for all to see ?
Whatever works for you , I'm not trying to argue , just having a quality discussion .

IMO, in a perfect world there would be a like button, but the results of others clicking on it would only be visible to the person who posted the comment initially. That way you could let whoever wrote something know that you agree or that it’s good, but it would not have the madness of crowds effect and would let those who want to quote it and perhaps disagree not feel like they are up against way more than one poster’s opinion.

We are sacrificing efficiency for something but I’m not sure what. I’m a guest here though and I appreciate this place.
👍

Took me a while to figure out what was going on. I’ll get used to it I’m sure, but it’ll take a little bit of time 👍

Like a 45 minute meeting that should have been an e-mail? I’ve got enough of those in my life.
