Here is a Global Email I just sent out.

Good Morning everyone,

First off, we’re winding down on the 2008 hunting year and I hope everyone has had a great hunting season. We have had some phenomenal posts from members with some great animals coming out of a lot of different states. If you have not posted a story yet this is a gentle reminder to share your stories and short videos with other hunters on HuntTalk.com. Go to the main page and click on forums on the top left side.

Second, the fact is there is an ongoing cost of running Hunttalk.com. The site is still 100% free and there is no distinguishing from members if they donate or not. We are just trying to offset our ongoing costs. We ask this once a year at the end of the year. If you like this website, and would like to give something in return, you can make a donation. Your donation will be used to pay for our ever increasing bandwidth costs, our hosting service, domain registration, upgrades, software licensing fees, and maintenance costs.

Here is what we have done. I put up a "DONATE" link on the top on the forums and the Main page. (Top Left). I set the Default to $25. You can change that Amount to whatever you fee is fair. It goes through Paypal.

Another way would be to mail your donation to "Oscar Williamson". My office address is :

Legacy Lending Group
ATT. Oscar T. Williamson II
1759 S. Millennium Way, Ste 101
Meridian Idaho 83642

Remember that the donation is 100% optional but will be appreciated. Even if you are tight with money because of the economy and do not donate, it would be great to see everyone on Hunttalk.com posting their great stories or catching up on other great stories that are posted there.

Hope everyone will have great holidays, and like always, if you have any questions, drop me a line.

I suspect that it will be much more difficult to solicit donations this year with the economy in the crapper. As one of the loudest opponents of you selling advertising in the past, I'd suggest you pursue more advertising if donations don't pay all of your costs. It's easy to tell someone else what they should do, but when it's coming out of your own pocket, it's different.;)

I've thought about buying this place from you, but I wouldn't want the annual expense either. I'd probably try to make it pay for itself. It would be nice if you could limit it to the small forum sponsorship ads like you currently have on a couple of the forums.

Oak, Like always, you are on the For~front of Donating again. You have always stood up first in the Past and continue to do so. It's OK to complain when you contribute... Wel, it at least holds a little more Merit then others ;)

I chose to stay close to home the last two seasons to look after my step father who passed away on the 3rd after a long struggle with Dementia.
The pics, stories and general mayhem of the girly bashing back and forth were a great distraction from the daily grind. I'm still feeding 4 kids at home but it's worth missing lunch once to help out.

I need a new hunttalk hat to wear in the hill photo my mt goat I'm going to shoot next fall....

A few advertisements would be be bad, I would try to keep them hunting related. I hate those ads that look like they could give a siezure...

I should make some more hats and stuff. It jsut took alot of work to order the hats. Pick them up. Store them, and sell them, then ship them out, etc. For the time involved I'd have to charge $66.66 for each hat !!! ;)

Wyo my good buddy, I'll get a hat to you. Just don't tell anyone else or they will expect it too :D :D

Moosie,

There is a lady in Nampa that we use for embroidery stuff. She is cheap and allows you to bring your own hats/shirts/coats in for embroidery. I am not even sure if she charges a digitization fee for the set-up. And, best of all, you don't have to buy her products to get her to sew on them.

If you need the info, remind me next time you buy me lunch in appreciation of all the contributions I make around here with my superior posts......

HELL YEAH!!! I lost my other one on the move up to Alaska. Or maybe those sneaky canadians stole it when I wasn't looking.

You should have one of your 10 boys manage the hats etc as a little intro to the business world....

Funny, Because I bought camo hats a few years ago.... Like 100+ of them. I should get her the Logo. Gunner, you're unemployed and have time, Make this happen for me and get Wyohunter a hat :p

To the 6 that sent some money in, It's appreciated. I know we'll get some more. I know it's tough in the work force right now. All I ask is if you don't contribute with money, At least make some posts to keep new posts going. I do love looknig at new Horn Porn pictures !!! :D

You guys rock, thanks !

I have been deer hunting with no success just got back and saw this, donation made, thanks for a great site Oscar. I will probably be the only donor from NJ:)

Friend of mine does the same stuff as the lady in Nampa. you don't have to buy his gear he will put it on anything you want. Mugs, hats, shirts, fridge magnets you name it. Pretty well priced. At least you could compare price. I would be happy to talk to him if you get back into the logo stuff.www.rsthreadart.com

Thanks to the "7" people that have sent in money so far. Far from the costs but it does offset a little of the costs.

Moosie:

How large of a "donation" would I have to make to acquire a purchase option? Wouldn't want Oak to walk away with this at too low of a price? :D:D:D

When I get back from Iowa, I will make a donation from the funds my wife made at her (my) hunting equipment sale. If there is any money left when she and her sister return from Vegas.

Crap! I can't be one of the magnificent seven. Maybe I can be one of the dirty dozen. I'm sending it out today.
