...that'n pegs the fag meter.
Moosie good luck on the race in 3 weeks. let us know how it goes.
a 1/2 mile in 17 seems good to me. I think my first race I ended up swimming 400M in around that 17 min time, that was an eye opener.. The last race I did the swim was 750M and I think I finished a touch over 16 min.
Not really. Olympic, half IM, and full IM are the only standard distances. Sprints can vary quite a bit, but are all shorter than an olympic. They also often have the swim in a pool rather than open water. Is the sprint format fairly uniform?
Have you looked at the entry fee yet?Next year I think I might try the Ironman Boise
Locally the sprints are mostly open water swims (open: Y-Not, Emmett, Redfish, Rush, Rigby, Blacktail, Twin Falls, Bear Lake, Deschutes, pool: YMCA Spring, Pocatello), but I think most sprints across the country tend to be in pools. Maybe I'm wrong though, I've only done one sprint. Occasionally you'll see a sprint that is reverse order (swim last). I think Pocatello is like that.Isn't the only pool Tri around Boise the Y-TRI ? from the YMCA ? I thought the Emmett, ParkCenter, Lucky Peak, Etc were all outside in open water ?
I did the Boise 70.3, YMCA Spudman, and Burley Spudman so far this year. I'm doing the Emmett Oly also and that'll probably be my last race this season. Time to go scouting/hunting after that...Are you doing any this year ?
And by the way, NOBODY looks good in bike shorts........

I've got my eye on IMAZ '10 (it's in my hometown and a relatively flat course). I may be a one-and-outter "going long", at least until my kids are older anyway. Nevermind the costs, properly training for a full just involves too much time for me (as I'm sure you are aware), especially having other interests. All the guys I know that race IM's do nothing else.If you're ever looking to do a full. redman is half the price of the Mdot races.
